//More News On Ne-Yo’s New Album, David Hernandez On Broadway, Mariah Carey Close To Billboard Record//

Earlier this month we reported on Ne-Yo’s third album, Year of the Gentleman. Now more info has surfaced.

Billboard.com reports Ne-Yo’s third album will be released June 24th. The first single, Closer, produced by Stargate, is already being serviced to radio. If you haven’t heard it already, you can check it out here. More on the album from Billboard.com:
Beyond “Closer,” other songs on the set include the guitar-laden “So You Can Cry,” about a difficult break-up, and “Stop This World,” which finds Ne-Yo crooning, “She’s got heaven in her eyes.” The album is also expected to include a collaboration with Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump.
Here’s hoping this project is handled better than his second album Because of You was. The album may have won a Grammy but it didn’t produce the same amount of hits as his debut In My Own Words did. Many fans blame the choice of singles–I agree, but I also blame the quality of the videos for those singles and the lack of promotion at radio. Go On Girl could have been a smash with a better video and promotion.

If you’re like me, then you are still not fully recovered from losing David Hernandez so early this season on American Idol and you’re pissed you won’t be able to see him on the Idol summer tour. But fear not David Hernanstans, David may be performing nightly very soon.

MTV News reports David was recently in New York auditioning for a lead role as Roger in the musical Rent which will be closing in September. He did not get the role but producers for the show were impressed with Hernandez’s vocal ability; just wary of his lack of experience acting. He is now being considered for a smaller part.

David is perfect for Broadway! Good luck to him….man, he is so spicy!

Mariah Carey is getting close to the record for the most #1 songs on the Billoard Hot 100. The record is held by the Beatles with 20 number ones. Carey is currently tied with Elvis Presley with 17.

Touch My Body, the first single from the singer’s forthcoming album E=MC², sits at #15 on the main chart this week. It’s chart position is attributed mostly to radio airplay (where it is currently #4 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart) but the single is now available for digital download. That should send the track soaring to the top spot on next week’s chart making it the singer’s 18th #1.

Here is a list of Mariah’s #1’s:
- Love Takes Time
- Vision Of Love
- Someday
- I Don’t Wanna Cry
- Emotions
- I’ll Be There
- Hero
- Dream Lover
- Fantasy
- One Sweet Day
- Always Be My Baby

- Thank God I Found You

Totally agree, Hotsauce! If there is any album that deserves a second chance, it’s Because of You.
