//Mixed Bits: Kelly Rowland Tours Africa; Beyoncé And Jay-Z Make It Official; Solange Gets Pharrell And Lil Wayne//
If you call Mathew Knowles ‘daddy’ then we’ve got news on you in this round-up!
First up is my girl Kelly Rowland. Kelly has just been named the 2008 ambassador for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation. The foundation aims to empower young people to protect themselves and their communities against the spread of HIV and AIDS. Rowland will help the foundation starting with a tour of Africa from June 20-29.
MTV said in a statement:
“Outstanding role models such as Kelly are a huge help in raising awareness about HIV and AIDS,” comments Bill Roedy, vice chairman, MTV Networks, in a statement. “In turn I am sure that Kelly will be truly inspired when she visits the amazing youth led initiatives that the Foundation supports. We are excited that Kelly has agreed to lend not only her name but also her unique blend of creative energy, musical talent and relentless passion to helping us fight a disease that is a defining issue of our time.”
Good for Kelly! Always doing positive things! Hate on that, haters! I’m kidding! Come back and finish reading! :)

The doubters can doubt no more. Two weeks after their wedding in NYC, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have turned in their signed marriage license to make it official.
The couple filed for a marriage license in Scarsdale, NY on April 1st, then got married in an intimate ceremony on April 4th with 40 friends and family members looking on.
A Scarsdale Town Clerk told People.com that although the license was received more than five days after the wedding date, as is the state law, it will be processed and filed without penalty.
If you were holding off for the paperwork, you can officially cry tears of joy and blow your nose on your freakum handkerchief.

Finally, Bey’s little sister sis Solange–excuse me–SoL-AngeL, is ready to put the world in a chokehold on August 26th when she releases her second album, SoL-AngeL and The Hadley Street Dreams. She was in LA today to shoot the video for the blazin’ Pharrell produced first single, I Decided, directed by Melina.
More infomation is coming out about the project and, if I’m being honest, I’m really excited! Looks like Solange is really going to deliver on this one (not to say she hasn’t before, I liked Solo Star. Shhhhhh…). She worked with some of the hottest names in retro-soul music including Lamont Dozier, Cee-lo, Raphael Saddiq, and the man resposible for Amy Winehouse’s 60’s soul sound, that hot ass piece of man candy Mark Ronson.
Other’s lending their vocals talents to the disc are Lil Wayne, Bilal, Marsha Ambrosius, and Estelle. SoL recently confirmed to BET that the second single will be Sandcastle Disco featuring Q-Tip.
Don’t count lil sister out. She may just give big sis a run for her Louboutins with the red bottoms.

Good news from Japan! Yesterday Samantha Thavasa announced that Beyonce and Solange will appear on the advertisement. It’s the first time for Solange to work for ST, and according to it, they will appear together, not separetely.
That’s awesome, Yuko! Please send me the ads when they start appearing!
