As I looked at the list of nominations for the 2008 BET Awards, I couldn’t help but shake my head. Not that I’d expect any better–this is BET–but I had hope. I would have skipped posting about this altogether but I’d feel terribly remiss as a music blogger if I didn’t.
T-Pain leads the way this year with 5 nominations; most for his numerous collaborations with other artists. Trailing behind him is Chris Brown with four, Kanye West and Keyshia Cole with three each; Alicia Keys (yes, I’m saddened too), and Flo Rida each receive a pair of nominations.
Al Green will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and Quincy Jones will receive an award for his humanitarian work.
Performers will include Usher, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Lil Wayne, and Nelly.
