//Mixed Bits: Sean Levert’s Widow Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit; Ne-Yo Gets Community Service; Solange Breaks Toes//

According to the Associated Press, Angela Lowe, the widow of the late LeVert singer Sean Levert (pictured above with his mother), has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Cuyahoga County officers responsible for holding Levert in jail the day of his death. In the suit, Lowe alleges her husband’s death could have prevented had the officers not overlooked Levert’s medical conditions. A coroner recently ruled his cause of death as natural.

It was reported that shortly before Levert was taken to an area hospital where he eventually died, he was under watch for strange behavior in his jail cell–behavior that an attorney for the family believes were the classic signs of withdrawal from the anti-anxiety medication Xanax.  Levert’s medication had been inventoried during booking but he was never given his meds.

Can’t say I didn’t see this coming. After that coroner report, it became clear that someone, somewhere in that jail ignored some obvious signs of distress. Real shame.

Ne-Yo pleaded no contest to reckless driving and guilty to driving without a valid drivers license in a Cobb County court Monday.  Shaffer was arrested back in February after he was caught driving over 100 miles an hour on a residential street in Cobb County, GA and was unable to provide the police with a valid driver’s license.  Remember this hot mugshot? He was sentenced to 24 hours of community services. He must also complete a defensive driving class and pay a $1000 fine.

Ne-Yo loves the kids so he is already lining up a performance for the Boys and Girls club as a part of his community service.

Solange caught a tough break before her performance on the Art of Love tour with Chrisette Michele and Raheem Devaughn in Kansas City.  She blogged about the mishap on her new blog:

YES, GUYS IM IN AN EFFING MOON SHOE CAST.

 

AS I WAS WALKING TO THE STAGE IN KANSAS CITY, SOME GENIUS USED A 100 POUND METAL CRANE STAGE LIFT TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN. (WISH I COULD FIND YOU AND SLAP YOU SILLY!) WHEN MY ROAD MANAGER OPENED THE DOOR IT SLAMMED INTO MY BIG TOE AND BROKE IT.

 

I DONT THINK IVE EXPERIENCED PAIN LIKE THAT SINCE CHILDBIRTH. I SCREAMED VERY BAD CURSE WORDS (SORRY JULEZ) FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND PUT ON MY BEST JAMES BROWN HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SHOWBIZ FACE TO GO ON STAGE.

 

I SUFFERED THROUGH THAT 25 MINUTES ON ONE LEG LIKE A STORK. I SAW A YOU TUBE CLIP OF THE SHOW AND HAVE TO SAY I WAS PRETTY PROUD I MADE IT THROUGH CONSIDERING THE PAIN.

 

DOC SAYS I HAVE TO WEAR THIS UGG MUFFIN MESS FOR A MONTH,  BUT IM HARD HEADED SO WELL SEE HOW THAT GOES.
