Musiq Soulchild is back with a new single, and a new sound. Here is the video for “Radio,” the first single off his new album On My Radio hitting stores September 16. Even the title of the album is something new for him. Remember how he used to love to smash words together or write them the way they sound? Aijuswanaseing, Juslisen, Luvanmusiq? Sigh.

Here at Neon Limelight, we strive to keep it all the way positive so here it goes: the video is pretty hot. The song is not bad, either. But this is NOT Musiq at all. I understand he’s trying to show another side of himself but it comes off as a desperate attempt to get more commercial success. Why dumb down your music for a couple thousand more cd scans? Double sigh.
