Time has been flying by for Ne-Yo since the 2006 release of his debut album, In My Own Words. But the time has not gone wasted. In almost three years, Ne-Yo has become the go-to guy for hit records from some of the industry’s biggest players like Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, and even the king of pop, Michael Jackson. He’s also gathered a nice little list of hit singles for himself as well as two platinum albums.

He just released his third album, Year of the Gentleman, this week so it’s only appropriate that we go back and check out the video that started it all. No, not “So Sick.” It was the song that put Ne-Yo on the map but in the summer of 2005, he released his first single “Stay.” It did moderately well, but a lot of people didn’t realize just how hot the song was until they bought In My Own Words.
