//Neon Reviews: Demi Lovato – Don’t Forget//

Teen pop singers come a dime a dozen. Most of them are devoid of talent and completely forgettable. But 16-year-old Camp Rock/Welcome to Mollywood star, Demi Lovato hopes that her name will be burned into your brain with the release of her 11-track debut album, appropriately titled Don’t Forget.

Promo clips for the set quickly boosted the fact that 6 of the albums songs were written by insanely popular sibling band Jonas Brothers, but the name dropping isn’t necessary—Demi’s incredible vocals should be the focus.

Opening track La La Land is a wonderful introduction to Lovato’s talent. Demi’s sweet yet powerful vocals compliment this electric guitar heavy number nicely. Trainwreck is the perfect storm of Pop and Rock. It’s bubbly with a small dose of grunge.

The set’s only guest appearance comes from super-group Jonas Brothers in On the Line. The 80’s sounding, bouncy duet proves that not all Disney associated acts are purely hype. These kids have it.

Title track Don’t Forget, Two Worlds Collide (dedicated to best friend forever, Selena Gomez) and Believe In Me are gorgeous ballads that showcases this rising stars mature-beyond-her-years voice.

Demi Lovato isn’t a household name—yet, but she surely has the talent to become one with this impressive debut. You don’t see too many teen pop stars with real singing chops in the biz so when you find one as good as Demi is, they’re pretty hard to forget.

    I totally agree. I thought she was just another Disney brat . . . but then I heard her album. This girl is a legit artist, and I hope she breaks free from Disney to pursue what she really wants.

  4. kandance says:

    her voice is OK, but her stage presence is weak, at leats I think so I ‘ve bben to many concerts of her,and The so called” talented”Joans who suck major time, and it’s mostly her standing there and singing, not really entertaining, I believe Hilary Duff, atleast did that for me, while on her shows, Miley Cyrus even entertains,and dances, with a not so great voice, she is quite likable, but Demi is just a girl with a good voice, nothing new, a good example Christina Aguilera did put up a Great show, back then too,a dn still does, with her super great strong vocals

  5. Monica says:
