//Neon Reviews: Britney Spears – Circus//

The word circus perfectly describes the last 2 years for Britney Spears. But between the hospital stays, mental evaluations and court proceedings, Britney Jean Spears did manage to have some high points: seemingly cleaning up her act, her MTV Video Music Awards wins and her brand new album, appropriately titled Circus. Widely referred to as her comeback album, it’s jam-packed with dance friendly, feel good music. You’d never guess this album came from someone who came so close to losing it all.
If you’re looking for outstanding vocals, you’re listening to the wrong album–you’re actually listening to the wrong artist. Britney is not a stellar vocalist but if you’re willing to put this fact aside, you’re in for a pretty good musical joyride.
Womanizer, title track Circus and Kill the Lights tap dances all over most of the current Pop songs out right now. They’re upbeat and infectious cuts that are sure to get you moving. They show the kiddies how it’s supposed to be done. Not surprising, though. She is the woman responsible for ushering in a new crop of Pop stars in 1999.
Album track If You Seek Amy is a touch of genius. Brit takes some not too safe for work subject matter and turns it into radio friendly goodness. On the addictive chorus, Britney sings “Love me, hate me, say what you want about me/But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If You Seek Amy.” This one has “hit” written all over it. Other album highlights come from cuts Unusual You and the sexy Lace and Leather.
One of the few ballads and the closing number, My Baby, is a beautiful tribute to Britney’s little ones. While the vocals initially leave much to be desired, the raw emotion makes this song one of the best on the album.
It looks like Ms. Spears is well on her way back from the hellish media circus that threatened to cut her career short. She has more than earned her title as the new queen of pop with the release of this record. Welcome back Britney!

This one is not as good as Blackout. To me….
I do love “If you seek Amy”! And I am sooo glad you got the song Story! I read another review of this album and they said that “Amy” was Britney’s alter-ego…like Beyonce/Sasha lol!
Lmao at your jokes.
From a little Disney girl to international sex symbol to sex tapes to rehabilitation centers to court- rooms to back on stage is nothing less than a high voltage drama.
Whatever may be the truth but she rules on hearts of millions and that’s why searched most on web…no doubt Britney is the most controversial and successful female celebrity of the 21st century
