//Live Blogging: The Grammy Nominations Concert Live//

9:15pm:

OK. I’ll be honest. I couldn’t care less about these performances on the Grammy Nominations Concert Live special airing now on CBS. Who needs to see Mariah Carey and her dancers dressed straight out of 1996 (knee-high white boots and pleather red dresses UGH!) singing Christmas songs. I do, however, have overwhelming excitement tingle for the nominations, though.

We’ll be live blogging about the nominations as they’re announced. And here is the first batch as announced by that spicy hawt piece of man meat, Ne-Yo:

Best New Artist:

Adele (YES!!!!!!!!!)

Duffy

Jonas Brothers (OMJ!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Lady Antebellum

Jazmine Sullivan

9:20pm:

Forgive me if I can’t type. I am BLOWN AWAY by the Album of the Year nominations. Announced by Celine Dion who just got done boring me to tears performing (but with an incredibly beautiful voice):

Album of the Year:

Coldplay – Viva La Vida

Lil Wayne – Tha Carter III

Ne-Yo – Year of the Gentleman (OOOOOOMG!!!111!!)

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Raising Sand

Radiohead – In Rainbows

The big shocker is Alicia Keys being snubbed for her album As I Am. I’ll chalk it up to the album being release so late last year that it was overlooked. Though, Radiohead also had a late release. I need to rationalize or I’ll riot.

Foo Fighters are ripping “You’re So Vain” a new one–and I love it. Laterz.

9:33pm:

Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals are being announced by the Foo Fighters and sweet mama some Neon Limelight favorites are dominating.

Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals:

Alicia Keys and John Mayer – Lesson Learned

Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland – 4 Minutes

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Rich Woman

Maroon 5 and Rihanna – If I Never See Your Face Again

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown – No Air

Is it possible to overuse OMG? Yes? Well, sorry! O…M…G!

Christina Aguilera is now paying tribute to Nina Simone. Til next category (or the ones we care about. DOH!)

9:37pm:

Commercial break but I found a pic of Mariah:

See what I mean….totally 1996. Thanks AP for the pic!

Taylor Swift is up next to perform!

9:42pm:

I never get sick of Taylor Swift performing “White Horse.” That song will be a definite contender for a Grammy next year. But until then, Taylor is announcing awards.

Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group:

Big Boi ft. Raekwon and Andre 3000 – Royal Flush

Jay-Z, TI, Lil Wayne – Swagger Like Us

Jay-Z and Lil Wayne – Mr. Carter

Ludacris and TI – Wish You Would

Young Jeezy ft. Kanye West – Put On

Lots of repeat names in that bunch. I guess it’s safe to say TI will get at least one award.

9:53pm:

John Mayer just slayed the stage with BB King. Now it’s time for a BIG ONE…

Record of the Year:

Adele – Chasing Pavements

Coldplay – Viva La Vida

Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love

MIA – Paper Planes

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Please Read the Letter

The Alicia Keys stan in me is about to RIOT!!!! I just knew for sure “No One” would be a lock for this category. But two big shockers (though, both are deserving) in Adele and MIA. I told you Adele would be one to watch.

10:00pm:

Well, that’s it! John Mayer and BB are playing us out. The full list (or just the main cats) will be posted shortly. Are you happy? Angry? Gathering a group to riot?

I’m disappointed so far. I didn’t expect much but from the looks of things I will be skipping the grammys this year.

  2. Stacey says:

    Yay Ne-Yo!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Natalie says:

I’m glad Adele was nominated. I love her and I think she is totally deserving of the honor. The rest I don’t agree with at all but what can you do. The Grammys are nothing more than a glorified popularity contest. I always hope they regain their integrity but sadly they never do.

  4. noelle says:

Really Natalie? Are you kidding lol this is one of the BEST line-ups vocally (as far as singers) and one of the BEST line-ups as far as overall TALENT in forever. I can not wait to see some performances =)

  5. Natalie says:

Sorry. I just don’t get the hype around majority of the people on the Grammy’s list. I’m not saying these people are bad, but Grammy worthy, I don’t think so but my opinion doesn’t matter.

  6. Anonymous says:

WHAT!!! MIA…you gotta be kidding me…

  7. Nights says:

    opps thats me up there.^^^^

  8. Roseeeeee says:

    omg. I was dissappointed.

Adelle (who i adore) is grammy worthy.
Lil Wayne? I DONT THINK SO. If he wins, I am officialy done with the Grammys.
And I am pissed that Mariah Carey didnt get nominated (no matter what u think of her, she is a great artist and she is definetly more deserving of a grammy nom than Lil Wayne or MIA!!) I am disappointed that the Grammys have become a huge popularity contest!! The only real award show left (in my opinion) are the Oscars :]

P.S. Taylor Swift was HORRIBLE last nite :\

  9. Roseeeeee says:

    and btw

I WENT CRAZY when I saw the pleather and go-go boots.

    Totally 96′ flash back haha.
