The economy might be sluggish but you can’t tell that to the fans of country music’s brightest young star, Taylor Swift. The 18-year-old wunderkind bumped pop queen Britney Spears from the No. 1 spot this week on the Billboard 200 album chart after selling 249,000 copies of her sophomore album, Fearless, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s an amazing 29% increase in sales from her tally last week. Fearless has sold 1.5 million copies since being released November 11. Britney shouldn’t be too upset. She only falls to No. 2, selling 200,000 copies in its second week out. She took a 60% sales hit, but that’s pretty commonplace in the current sales climate. That brings Brit’s two week total to 705,000 copies.
