//American Idol Countdown: Revisited: LaToya London – Somewhere//

Who could forget season three of American Idol? It was the season that gave us the “Three Divas.” That feisty group included a future Oscar winner in Jennifer Hudson, a Grammy nominated champ in Fantasia Barrino, and then there’s the more quietly successful LaToya London.

LaToya was an early favorite among Idol judges and fans alike. She could take any uber-ridiculous theme week and stomp all over the competition with her big, controlled voice–a fact that worked well for her as it gained her serious praise when she went on to star as Nettie in the touring production of The Color Purple alongside Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams (saw it, loved it!).

Movie Soundtrack week proved to be a good one for London. She chose “Somewhere” from Westside Story, and nearly blew the roof off the joint (and the white baby tee off Simon Cowell) with her effortless high notes. Remember this extreme diva with us!
