//Melinda Doolittle To Release Debut Album ‘Coming Back to You’//

The sixth season of American idol offered some of the most eclectic talents the Idol stage has ever seen up to that point–which could have been a good or bad thing. It’s the season that brought us beat-boxing Blake Lewis, hair-raising Sanjaya Malakar, high note-loving Jordin Sparks, and the goosebumps-producing Melinda Doolittle.

Melinda’s appeal was undeniable. She came from a humble background paying her dues as a back-up singer before trying to reach for that front mic on the Idol stage. Even when she had clearly slaughtered her competition (like she did when she performed a knock-out rendition of “My Funny Valentine“), she took the praise with such an “awe shucks, really?” humbleness that endeared her to the American voters. When she was given the boot prematurely, her fans were confident bigger and better things would be awaiting the Missouri native.

Those bigger things are on the way as Melinda will release her debut album, entitled Coming Back To You, February 3. The 13-track set will offer Melinda’s sultry voice soaring over songs that range from jazzy tunes to contemporary R&B scorchers.

The first single, “It’s Your Love,” embodies what the album is all about–it takes you back to a time when soul music was honest, singers actually could sing, and people wanted to listen to music–not just look at the cool clothes the “singer” has on.

Preview the first single, “It’s Your Love,” here.

Check out Melinda’s official site for more information. The album can be pre-ordered now, with part of the proceeds going to Malaria No More, a non-profit group raising money to end the spread of Malaria in Africa.
