Before Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie, Taylor, Jordin or David, there was Kelly–Kelly Clarkson. The spunky Texas diva won the first season of the now cultural phenomenon known as American Idol, skating through the competition without ever seeing the dreaded bottom three. And why would she ever? She owned every singer, male or female, from the moment she auditioned. She made them want to pack it up even further when she performed the Aretha Franklin classic “You Make Me Feel (Like A Natural Woman)” in the top eight performance round. She delivered a glass-shattering high note that would make even Mariah Carey a bit envious. Let’s remember why Kelly won and went on to become a major pop force in her years since Idol now!
