Whitney Houston reclaimed the stage last night at her mentor Clive Davis‘ pre-Grammy party. She looked every bit like the musical royalty she is as she performed to a crowd that included legends Paul McCartney and Barry Manilow, and newcomers Rihanna, Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and others.

Clearly Houston looked the part, but how did she sound? Nekesa Mumbi Moody of the Associated Press reports:
A stunning-looking and strong-sounding Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the stage at a pre-Grammy party honoring her mentor, music mogul Clive Davis.
“I’ve got it, I’ve got it!” Houston, looking glamorous in a skintight leopard dress, sang early Sunday morning as she belted a line from one of her classic hits, “I’m Every Woman.” Read the entire review.

Also making a return of sorts was a stunning Jennifer Hudson who performed “Spotlight” before being joined on stage by Barry Manilow for his song “Weekend in New England“
Kelly Clarkson belted out her new hit “My Life Would Suck Without You” and Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart“
Diddy and Faith Evans performed their tribute to the Notorious B.I.G., “I’ll Be Missing You“

LA Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds gave a speech to honor Davis
Kanye West gave a speech before “bowing in the presence of greatness”
