//Gavin DeGraw Takes Fans Back To ‘Where It Began’ On New Album And Spring Tour//

Perhaps learning from the lukewarm response to his decidedly more rock-influenced self-titled sophomore album, Gavin DeGraw is taking a step back on his third.

The album, entitled Free, out March 31, will take fans back to where it began. “Kind of making an indie record is really kind of what’s happening,” says the 32-year-old singer/songwriter of the album which will have stripped back production on the all-new songs. It’ll also include a cover of the late Chris Whitley‘s “Indian Summer” and a new version of “Young Love.”

“I really wanna try to keep it more simple so there are less things in the way. Less distractions from the song, from the performance of the song to the ears that are supposed to be listening to the song.”

Those ears will have a chance to listen to those songs as Gavin debuts his new music on the “Where It Began” tour kicking off Feb. 14 in New Orleans and wrapping May 14 in New York with other performances already scheduled for July.

So why the change? “It just feels good,” DeGraw says.
