R&B singer/songwriter Keri Hilson will finally release her long awaited debut album, In A Perfect World…, on March 24.
She’s been keeping her fans updated in regular posting on her YouTube channel as she gears up for the big release.
In just a couple weeks, she’ll rejoin Lil Wayne and T-Pain for the second leg of the I Am Music tour where she serves as the opening act and she has three album release parties planned in New York on March 24, Atlanta (her hometown) on March 26, and March 29 in Los Angeles.
As Keri’s world gets more perfect with her hard work finally paying off, there’s a bit of controversy trying to put a damper on her high spirits.
A remix to her hit “Turn Me On,” which her touring partners, leaked to the internet and several gossip blogs suggested her verse in which she takes shots at some female artists in the game may be directed towards fellow Atlanta songbird Ciara and international pop queen Beyonce.
“Your vision cloudy if you think that you’re the best/You can dance, you can sing, but need to move it to the left,” she raps using the Mighty B’s wildly known tag from “Irreplaceable.”
She goes on to spit more venom: “Go ‘head and tell these folks how long I been writing your songs/I been putting you on/Just check the credits, ho.”
The “diss” has angered many CiCi and Bey fans alike. Keri’s YouTube videos have been splashed with hateful comments since the leak.
But the singer couldn’t take anymore. When Ciara appeared on Atlanta’s V103 and expressed disappointment in the verse if in fact it was about her, Keri was called to explain the song.
“It’s not about you–it’s not about anybody,” she told Ciara by phone. ” It is about haters.”
“People are just reading way too far into it. That’s just a by-product of this industry how people just kinda take things and make them what they want it to be.”
“Cool beans,” Ciara replied to the explanation.
