It wasn’t enough for the DeBarge family to rule the 80′s, now they’ve pumped out another family member determine to continue the pop music legacy. Meet Kristinia DeBarge. She’s the daughter of DeBarge member James DeBarge (who was once briefly married to Janet Jackson), so she was born to do this — she knew she wanted to be a singer since the age of three.
Kristinia is ready to unleash her debut album this summer, and she’s starting to build excitement with her first single, “Goodbye.” The unapologetically peppy break-up anthem makes good use of its sample of Steam‘s hit “Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye).†Perfect for heating up the warm months in the clubs, the song has been chosen to lead Nivea’s ‘get ready for summer’ hair removal TV campaign.
Kristina has everything she’ll need to make a big splash in the pop music world: a sweet voice, Cover Girl good looks, and backing by one of the biggest producers in the game; many songs on her album are produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.

When I saw her song jump from 75 to 42 on Hot 100, I was surprised. Then when I found out her last name and checked Wikipedia, I went “She’s James DeBarge’s daughter?” Couldn’t believe it! But I remember Debarge’s ’80s hits like I like It, Who’s Holding Donna Now and the funky You Wear It Well. Saw her on the website and she looks like any of the Debarge members, the familiar smile, almost like El or James! The song’s good, something close to what Keri Hilson could do, but it fits for Kristiana. Sometimes, a famous last name will make people buy that offspring’s product and I will definitely get Kristiana DeBarge’s new album when it comes out in June! Sounds like a fun escapist dance pop album that will come out this year!
