It’s such a shame that Barbados-born pop singer and Neon Limelight fav Shontelle is constantly hounded for information about her pal and fellow Bajan singer Rihanna when there are better things to talk about…like her epic debut album, Shontelligence. She’s taken the “no comment” approach when asked for deets since the Grammy-morning altercation between Rihanna and Chris Brown made world-wide news, but in a recent interview she gave a bit more information that caused quite a stir among fans of the 21-year-old “Umbrella” singer.

“As far as I know they broke up,” she told Fort Wayne, Indiana radio station Hot 107.9. “I’m not asking any questions. That’s their personal lives but I’m just glad to know that she’s back up and she is having the time of her life.”

The tiny tidbit led to a huge outpouring of comments on Rihanna’s biggest fansite with most users going at Shontelle for saying too much about her friend’s situation. Some even questioned whether the two were friends at all.

During a live chat held for fans last night (April 26), Shontelle made a video reply to the controversy in hopes of deading the drama.

“When I think of Rih, I think about my little sister. I love her like my little sister,” she said in the video. “As far as everyone asking me about the personal RiRi questions, you know, the only thing I can say to that is it’s personal.”
