The Soul Patrol rolled back into American Idol last night when season 5 winner Taylor Hicks returned to the show to perform his new single, “Seven Mile Breakdown,” from his sophomore album called The Distance. The salt-and-pepper haired soul singer also spoke briefly with host Ryan Seacrest about slimming down, his role as Teen Angel in in the now touring production of Grease, and his new music.

He helped the top 5 deliver one of the best performance nights of the season when he served as their mentor on Tuesday night. Wednesday night Jamie Foxx took the Idol stage to show ‘em how he gets down. The actor/singer performed his latest single, “Blame It,” from his new album, Intuition. The song features T-Pain but he wasn’t on hand to surprise the audience. No worries, though! There was still plenty of auto-tune goodness to go around. Jamie had the auto-tune mic on full power!
