The internet may be buzzing about the Twilight vs. The Dark Knight match-up at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, but we’re excited about another showdown: Miley Cyrus vs. Paramore.
The nominations for MTV’s celebration of all things cinematic were announced today (May 4) and Disney’s princess Miley Cyrus found herself receiving two noms: Breakthrough Performance: Female for her big screen debut in Hannah Montana: The Movie and Best Song From A Movie for “The Climb” from the movie’s soundtrack.
Paramore competes against Cyrus for Best Song–an all new category–for their dark hit “Decode” from the Twilight soundtrack.
Other contenders in the category are Bruce Springsteen for “The Wrestler” from the film of the same name and AR Rahman for “Jai Ho,” from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack.
The golden popcorn statuettes will be handed out live from Universal City, CA on Sunday, May 31 at 9 PM EST.
