//Susan Boyle Appears On The Oprah Winfrey Show, Talks Fame And Makeovers//

The world’s most unlikely superstar, Susan Boyle, the frumpy 48-year-old who found fame when she blew Simon Cowell and the other judges on Britain’s Got Talent away with her surprisingly awesome singing voice, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show today to talk about her whirlwind ascent into fame.

On the episode entitled “The World’s Got Talent,” Boyle invited the Oprah cameras into her home in Scottland and shared her musical journey that began when she was just a small girl inspired by her mother. “My mother used to sing around the house quite a lot,” she said in the interview. “It’s a sort of habit I sort of picked up from her.”

Singing was also a way for Susan to cope with a learning disability. She found her confidence, the same spunky fire she’d use in her biggest audition later in life, performing in school choirs.

After the death of her mother two years ago, Susan tucked away her talent. It took her awhile to bounce back, but she still needed to prove to herself that she could take the stage again. “One of the reasons I applied for the TV show was to try to see if I could perform in front of an audience.” That went well, didn’t it?

Since appearing on the show (and ultimately all over the internet), Susan has become an overnight sensation, but she’s not shying away from the attention. “It’s pretty awesome,” she told Lady O. “I’m really enjoying every second of it. It’s like a dream come true.”

One subject that always seems to come up is whether or not Susan will undergo a drastic makeover now that she’s in the limelight. “My best friend actually helps me with my makeup, but that’s hardly a makeover.” When asked about her new haircut and color she responded with a laugh. “That was just to tidy myself up like any other female would have done.”

Susan may be the most talked about contestant on the show, but she’s not letting that get to her head. She’s realistic about her chances of winning. “There are a lot of other talent in the competition, so I’m willing to take my place with them.”

I liked Susan better before the makeover by her friend. Now her words and actions seem like they are at the beginning stages of being fake like Hollywood.

i dont agree Jack.. Shes a lady..just like she said, she have to feel pretty especially if the camera is gonna be in ya face. She a sweet person..and I dont see or hear “the fake Hollywood” at all.

I don’t think she wanted to change anything about herself, she is who she is, but my goodness, after all of the horrible things written about her looks it’s no wonder she made a few simple changes.
I feel very sorry for her when I read such awful articles.
I guess no matter how hard they tried, the media wasn’t able to dig up any dirt on her, so they have to go after her looks.
    Pitiful society we live in.

Susan Boyle is just lovely the way she is. Reporters who call her frumpy and such ought to be ashamed of themselves for being hateful and rude. She has a glorious voice. She will likely have her hair done before performing … so what? Don’t all women get their hair done for special occasions? I am sure there are stylists on the show that will help her choose her clothing … however, the dress she wore for her audition was beautiful on her. I am one of the thousands who congratulate her for having the courage to perform. It would be a pity to hide this unbelievable talent. I know she will do an excellent job in her coming performances … and God bless her. She has been so gracious to the press, I hope they will reciprocate in kindness, also. I think Susan is charming just the way she is.
