It’s so hard being a Rihanna stan these days. Not only do we have to constantly defend her against the forces of evil (some Beyonce, Britney Spears, and/or Chris Brown fans), we have to sit by and suffer through the first summer since 2005 with no Rihanna single!!! She blessed us with “Pon de Replay” in 05, saved summer radio with “SOS” in 06, owned with a tiny little song called “Umbrella” in 07, and got spooky with “Disturbia” in 08.
The princess of edgy-chic is currently in the studio working on new music reportedly with Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake but a single isn’t expected until Fall. Epic sadness! What’s summer without Rihanna!?
Thankfully for us, some new-ish music from Rihanna leaked online earlier this year that will keep us going until the new album drops. One of those songs is the painfully catchy “Whipping My Hair.”
Looky here, I already know the song is not a classic by any means. In fact, when I first heard it, I thought it was complete garbage — the lyrics (courtesy of The-Dream) make absolutely no sense (“I just might have what you need/Sprinkling you with pieces of me/Now lets make it a sight to see”), the synthtastic club beat is far more Britney-ish than Rihanna, and the overall quality of the song is about 3,000 steps back for the new pop queen (probably why it was never supposed to see the light of day), but there is something about Rihanna’s delivery of the flimsy lines and the unique charm of her voice that makes the song not only bearable, but worthy of repeated plays on my “Music for the Summer” mix on the ol’ mp3 player.

RiRi dosen’t have anything on Beyonce and I’m saying that more then their vocals. RiRi could have had a single out but she was too busy trying to make it seem that she is over Chris by traveling all over the place and hooking up with different guys. Chris is possibly going to be a opening act for Micheal Jackson. Even though what he did was wrong he is doing the right thing by laying low and working on his music. This is what little Ms. Sunshine should do instead of going to strip clubs tipping the ladies (I hope this is another rumor) because it doesn’t look good.
Rihanna is starting to go to heck with herself, now she is into watching lady sleaze strippers? now that is just wrong, she is going to pick up another loser-man if she is going to places like that, starting to lose my glow for her and her music (CB is a bum)
Rihanna is the sh*t every summer her songs are banging up in the clubs. I remember Don’t Stop The Music was playing in every club here in NYC. Beyonce and Rihanna are totally difrent in there music and what they aimming for as far as style of music. Even there voice is completly diffrent. I will say Rihanna is the new diva on the scene and music wise she is the hottest thing on the scene! No doubt!
