Rihanna is the new queen of Def Jam Records. And why shouldn’t she be? In a day and age where records sales royally suck, Rihanna has managed not only to post strong sales of her first three albums (not to mention her last’s reincarnation Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded) but she dominates with singles sales.
Miss Edgylicious made a special appearance at Island Def Jam’s spring collection launch last night in New York City, where she was presented with a plaque to commemorate 12 million units of music sold by her boss L.A. Reid.
Honoring Rihanna wasn’t the only thing on the agenda for Mr. Reid that night. He also introduced some new additions to the Def Jam roster including Kristinia DeBarge (who already has a hit single with “Goodbye“), Justin Bieber, Jessie James, Jeremih (who’s ruling the airwaves with “Birthday Sex,” and a familiar face, Amerie.
He also debuted the highly anticipated video for Kanye West’s new single “Paranoid” which stars Rihanna.
Also in attendance recieving IDJ love were Pete Wentz, Chrisette Michele, Redman, ?estlove and more.
