When 48-year-old Susan Boyle auditioned for the Simon Cowell judged talent show Britain’s Got Talent, no one knew she’d become a worldwide sensation. But she has. The video of her spectacular audition has topped over 100 million views on YouTube and she’s appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show. Her not-so-Hollywood looks have also been a hot button topic.
Last night the Scotland native got back to doing what she loves to do: singing. She performed “Memory” from the Broadway musical Cats for the BGT audience to rave reviews from the judges.
“You are one special lady I have to say,” Cowell said before apologizing for how Boyle was treated during her audition. “You’ve made me and everyone else look very stupid and I’m very happy for you, very proud of you.”
But did Susan feel the pressure of having the whole world watching her to see if she’d live up to the initial hype? “What pressure? It was really good tonight,” Susan told the hosts.
Britain agrees. Susan will appear at the Britain’s Got Talent finale on May 30.
