The Black Eyed Peas are still keeping things hot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week at No. 1 and 2 with their singles “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Got A Feeling,” but it’s newcomer Drake who’s grabbing most of the attention.
The Toronto-born rapper scores two top 10 singles this week with his summer banger, “Best I Ever Had,” rising 27-3 and “Every Girl,” a collaborative track with Lil Wayne, jumping from 34-10.
Drake, widely known as Jimmy Brooks from the Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, can thank part of his chart success to the unauthorized sale of the singles in online outlets. Once his team pulled the songs from retailers and put them up legally, the tracks remained hot with “Best” selling 153,000 digital downloads and “Every Girl” racking up 90,000 downloads.
This week’s top ten singles according to Billboard:
- Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow
- Black Eyed Peas – I Got A Feeling
- Drake – Best I Ever Had
- Keri Hilson featuring Ne-Yo and Kanye West – Knock You Down
- Pitbull – I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)
- Lady GaGa – LoveGame
- Sean Kingston – Fire Burning
- Jeremih – Birthday Sex
- Shinedown – Second Chance
- Young Money – Every Girl
