Family, friends, and fans gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to say goodbye to Michael Jackson, who died unexpectedly nearly two weeks ago.
The memorial, which lasted over two hours, was packed with performances and speeches by those touched by the King of Pop. The Jackson family took the stage to thank everyone for coming out as the ceremony wrapped, with brothers Jermaine Jackson and Marlon Jackson offering short eulogies, but no one expected to hear from Michael’s children, who he tried his hardest to keep out of the public eye.
In what was easily the most touching moment of the memorial, Michael’s 11-year-old daughter Paris Katherine Jackson made an impromptu speech to the thousands who gathered to talk about her beloved father.
“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine,” she said as she cried. “I just want to say I love him so much.”
Her aunt Janet Jackson quickly embraced her for a hug and walked her off stage.
