We’re a little bit over a month away from the US release of Melanie Fiona‘s highly anticipated debut album, The Bridge — it hits stores August 18.
Before we get the studio version Melanie and The Roots drummer Questlove will treat her longing fans to a live mixtape.
WQST Radio Presents: Melanie Fiona Meets The Illadelphonics (A Live Remix Jam Session of The Bridge) is expected to hit the internet this week after a multitude of push-backs and teasers. Until we can get our hands of the full album, check out a preview track, “Ay Yo.”
This live version of “Ay Yo” is pumped up with rousing drum patterns, a Caribbean island feel, and even a rap verse by Fiona (which isn’t all that surprising since she used to perform as a rapper under the name Syren Hall). Check it!
