‘I Kissed A Girl’ Singer Jill Sobule Calls Katy Perry A “F-cking Little Slut”

Before listening to it, many people thought Katy Perry’s 2008 smash “I Kissed A Girl” was a cover of a folksy/pop song of the same name by Jill Sobule. Sobule’s light-hearted tune about girl-on-girl  experimentation came out in 1995 when Perry was only 10 years old.

Even though Katy’s song bears no resemblance to Sobule’s other than their identical titles, pop culture enthusiasts clamored to ask Sobule what she thought of it. Interviewers looking for a awesome catty showdown were out of luck; Sobule was supportive of the song and didn’t appear to be bothered. That was the case… until now.

In an interview with The Rumpus, Sobule talks about what Katy said about the origins of her song’s title that sent her temperature soaring.

“As a musician I have always refrained from criticizing another artist. I was, ‘well, good for her’,” she told the online magazine. “It did bug me a little bit, however, when she said she came up with the idea for the title in a dream.”

“In truth, she wrote it with a team of professional writers and was signed by the very same guy that signed me in 1995. I have not mentioned that in interviews as I don’t want to sound bitter or petty… ’cause, that’s not me.”

Pettiness may not be her, but Jill paid a quick visit to F-bomb Street in Pettyland as she continued: “Okay, maybe, if I really think about it, there were a few jealous and pissed off moments. So here goes, for the first time in an interview: F-ck you Katy Perry, you f-cking stupid, maybe ‘not good for the gays,’ title thieving, haven’t heard much else, so not quite sure if you’re talented, f-cking little slut.”

“God that felt good,” she admitted.
