Demi Lovato And David Archuleta Postpone Select Dates On Summer Tour

Demi Lovato and David Archuleta fans dying to see the two perform on their extremely popular summer tour this weekend were hit with some last minute bad news: the show would not go on. At least not on the days they’d hoped — and purchased tickets for.

Three consecutive dates on the tour have been rescheduled with scheduling conflicts being blamed. The postponed dates at Manchester, NH’s Verizon Wireless, Providence, RI’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center and Atlantic City, NJ’s Trump Taj Mahal Casino will now take place on October 29, October 30 and November 1 respectively.

Could the postponed dates be a way to give Demi a much needed break? The 17-year-old Disney starlet recently tweeted her unhappiness about a schedule change that left her with virtually no break before she shoots the sequel to the popular Jonas Brothers costarring movie Camp Rock 2 (the tweets have since been deleted).

Fans unable to make the new dates will be able to obtain refunds at the point of purchase.

Whatever happened to “The Show Must Go On.” Rescheduling thousands of fans so you can “rest” is just unprofessional.

    • josh says:

the real reason she cancelled the dates is because her and her bf broke up and she was cutting her wrists. its not really being postponed so that she has time to rest

  2. C.L. says:

Oh, I’m sure the 20,000 or so concert goers for those three venues wouldn’t want you to be inconvenienced in any way. Now rest up, dear. *gag*

  3. tiffany says:

where is demi’s work ethic!!!? why would she disappoint so many fans because she cant get a day off??? this is why the stars of our time will never reach michael jackson heights. they dont work hard enough! david is better off doing solo shows from now on!!!!!!!!! shame on you demi!!!

  4. Mandy says:

As soon as I read the cancellation/”rescheduled” news about the Demi/David concerts, I immediately remembered Demi’s tweets complaining about not getting a break-now the tweets are gone and Miss Diva has her break. Thanks Demi for thinking of your thousands of fans whom you just broke your commitment to, and thanks for thinking of all the David fans, some of who had massive travel plans to attend these shows. No, that’s okay, I’m sure none of them mind being inconvenienced because you decided to whine. Or who knows, hopefully they will all decide that THEY have better things to do when your movie debuts, or your album drops, or you decide to tour again because it’s obvious that you don’t deserve any support from your fans after the lack of respect you’ve shown them. Oh, and congrats on passing the buck with your excuse by dragging David’s name into the rescheduling statement. Classy. Here’s to hoping that next time concert promoters decide to back an headliner, they pick a real artist like David and not a hissy fit throwing whiner like yourself.

  5. annie says:

This whole situation stinks. And I feel really bad for all of the fans that sacrificed vacation days off work, flights, hotels, etc. Some people flying in from Asia and Canada to see David. What are they suppose to do? Well, there isn’t anything anyone can do now, but move ahead. David is one class act. He will do anything to make his fans happy. Even performing with hardly any voice left and sick. He is the hardest working and dedicated artist I have known. OK……I have said enough…..just disappointed………

  6. mary says:

When the tour began, David’s name as hardly mentioned. It was the Demi show. Now that all of this has happened they put David’s name out there like he was part of it! NO WAY!! He had no idea! Real bad form Demi/Disney!

  7. Anonymous says:

I was surprised by some of these comments, but agree with a few too. What was the weirdest to me was that nobody knew why the shows were cancelled or if there would be a rescheduling for hours. And still, they haven’t given a for sure reason of why it’s cancelled. I like Demi. I just wish I knew the reason for why this is cancelled. I heard that someone flew in from Venezuela for the concert which is cancelled. I’ve read many posts from distraught fans that had planned their whole weekend around this and have waited their whole summer to get this close, some only 2 days away, and then get told they have to wait another whole 2 months. I don’t think they should’ve drug David’s name into like he had something to do with it. He even tweeted tonight “I’m sorry! :(. It wasn’t up to me lol.” Them making it seem now like he had something to do with it makes me a little angry. I don’t know the whole situation and I’m not going to believe everything I hear unless there’s proof of it, no offense to anyone expressing their theory. I enjoy hearing what people have to say and think. All I’m saying is that I feel bad for the people that had to have their plans ruined, some major plans as well, and I wish that there was a down set reason of WHY these are cancelled other than ‘scheduling conflicts’. The Jonas Brother’s are still performing, I might see them on Saturday even. Which is a day that Demi would’ve been performing. So if they could still perform, I don’t really completely get why Demi isn’t if this has to do with Camp Rock. I feel bad for David also, because he thought that he had a week left but really didn’t, and of course wouldn’t want to let fans down for anything. Also, his Christmas CD comes out October 13th, so this will interfere with album promotion possibly. I just think things are a little funny, like why there’s not a complete reason on why the shows are cancelled. I mean, the rest of the tour?! They barely gave a reason on why it’s cancelled, and they did it just 2-4 days before the performance. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that happening.

No matter how Demi or Disney try to spin this..it’s oozing with tackiness..
    just sayin’

  9. sylbk says:

Hope David tours with more mature & professional artists or just solo from now on, he’s such a dedicated artist and deserves better than being dragged into this mess. A lot of his international fans are really disappointed and unable to recope their expenses. Poor David, he must feel awful but it’s out of his control.

  10. Mary says:

This was the 2nd set of concerts that Demi canceled. Last time was for “scheduling conflicts” too. So unprofessional!

  11. nl says:

Well, notice how lovato/disney cancelled these too late for many people to get money back on flights, etc.? This was very unprofessional. There is no excuse other than true illness. Even Archuleta who lost his voice and then had severe allergies a week ago figured out how to deal with it – musician that he is, he sang his songs differently to adjust for the fact that he couldn’t hit certain notes and still put on amazing shows – now that is professional.

  12. Robin says:

I just think it is very sad to disappoint fans that way. I know Demi is an actress first and a singer second so it is not all that important to her but this is David’s livlihood here. He works so dang hard to give his fans 110 % that when this happens HE has to be disappointed. I just wish WHOEVER ( trying not to accuse here) came up with this reschedule idea would have thought of all the ramifications. And yeag right now they add David’s name to the headline!! Thats a joke!!!

  13. Burkey says:

Well, Disney finally includes David in a tour headline! How nice of them (barf)

What a TERRIBLE thing to do to thousands of fans coming from all over USA and some also coming from out of the country.

Demi & Disney will be losing many fans over this debacle!

A very selfish and unprofessional act Miss Demi!!

    • sua idiota says:

os fãs foram para ver o david e não a demi, todo mundo estava com a camisa do david e não da piranha da demi igual a voshe..

  14. jmcehsmom says:

I believe most of the fans are there to see David anyways so Demi should have taken her break and let David perform solo.

  15. Ellie says:

Disney, I am so disappointed that my concert was cancelled. I have been a Demi fan since the Barney Show era! But I cannot keep excusing the fact that the artist I so admired was allowed to cancel for her convenience. What about my hotel and airline tickets – how can I recoup this when the econony is hurting? Oh for Demi, that’s nothing! I am embarrassed and disappointed that Disney does not stress a work ethic, consideration for it’s fans, and just plain kindness. Do you think I’m going to drop everything when Camp Rock 2 comes out? I don’t think so! Many of the other Demi fans are moving on to more considerate artists and companies…You messed up!

  16. Natasha says:

What’s with this stupid, no-talent little bitch? I had VIP tickets to see David Archuleta in Portland in July. That show and one in Louisville were canceled by Demi due to “scheduling conflicts”, which was a bunch of shit, a made-up excuse because David sold more tickets here than she did and she probably didn’t want to be embarrassed when half the audience (or more) walked out after David’s performance. Those two concerts were never rescheduled, and she never even apologized for it. How can someone so immature, untalented and unprofessional have ANY fans?

  17. prometheus says:

very tacky, unprofessional and bad form disney…. who cancels a sold out show 3 days before it is supposed to come off? what you have done is left a very negative impression in the minds of thousands of fans, and consumers with this move. people were inconvenienced tremendously by the abrupt decision to cancel, and your spin and cyaing is not going to make this go away. it reinforces the notion that demi is no real or committed singer – this is just something she has been pushed into as a way for disney to maximize their bottom line. david archuleta is a professional, in every sense of the word… this young man sang through severe allergies last week, and still gave great shows. he could have called in sick, be he has been taught, or understands what committment, dedication and professionalism means. disney and demi lovato do not. shame on you disney, shame on your callous disregard of the archuleta fans who came out to support this tour in spite of reservations. don’t worry – we won’t forget.

  18. sarah says:

the magic kingdom has lost its luster with this totally unprofessional decision. the spinning from disney for themselves and lovato is making my head hurt – you screwed up, big time. own it. admit it. these flimsy excuses are not holding water, and it’s making lovato and disney look more amateurish every day. disney has shot themselves in the foot with these abrupt cancellations, and i am disgusted at their lack of clear and timely communication to the fans about it. and all of a freaking sudden, we see david’s name in the headlines with demi in disney’s attempt to cover their behinds for this debacle. this is not david’s mess – the mess belongs squarely in disney’s lap, and there is no way i’m going to support anybody or anything coming or being produced out of such an unprofessional and bush league company. deeply deeply disappointed in disney with this, and i’m going to make sure people know how disappointed and disgusted i am.

  19. teresa says:

david archuleta is a professional, and a class act. lovato and disney evidently are not, in cancelling the last three concerts on this tour with such ridiculously transparent excuses. david soldiered on through illness and fatigue many nights on this tours, and others he has done. no excuses, he sucked it up, and went out there and gave his fans his all. he has proven to have more of what it takes to make it in the business – lovato evidently is not and was not ready to handle the responsibility that comes with being a headlining act. this episode exposes that very clearly, and no spin from the mousehouse can cover this up. this has tarnished the image and reputation disney held in my eyes, and i won’t be so foolish to support anyone or anything coming out of that corporation again.

shame on you disney for your careless and callous disregard of fans who spend lots of money, in this horrible economy, to support david and demi on this tour. no one has that kind of money to throw away anymore, and your lack of truthfulness and timeliness in relaying this information is a disgrace.

  20. FG says:

YIKES! Pretty lame cancelling at the last minute like that. This is something that should have been worked out WEEKS before now. And shame on Disney/Demi team for DARING to bring David’s name into now. Spin doctor BS. Sorry to all the David fans that have messed up plans now. We move heaven and earth to see our guy and it ain’t easy. Dang it!

  21. kimk says:

I was one of the many who planned for months to go to AC to see David Archuleta and couldn’t believe that it was cancelled for such a reason. I was coming from NC as many were flying in from all over for a fanfest extraordinaire! Who would schedule a 16 year old to do a movie immediately after touring for months?! And why last minute? Could go on and on just want to say this was truly unprofessional and I am so glad there is such a wonderful and talented young individual in the business day who gives everything he has for his fans in such a professional and thoughtful manner. What a wonderful example David sets for the youth today and extremely proud to be a fan of his and will be at the next show and many more to come because he is that good! Really he should have been the headliner not the other way around and all this would NOT have happened!

    • pastel says:

As one of those who had to cancel my flight I am disappointed about not seeing David and all the other fans that were discussed in the comment above. But I will move heaven and earth to attend the rescheduled concert, book new international flights and hotel rooms, to see David. He is THAT good.

      • Jeffr says:

He IS that good, and I’ll be there in Nov. too! David makes many sacrifices for his fans and we’ll be there for him. See you in AC Kimk and Pastel!

  22. Jon says:

Yet again, Disney has created another SPOILED BRAT. Demi has a tantrum and everyone else suffers. Boo hoo, grow up diva. Disney throws all this money and fame at these kids who then think their s… don’t stink.

Disney, don’t insult the intelligence of the fans by saying a “scheduling conflict” this tour has been booked for over six months — there should be no conflict as you knew when it would end. But seriously, you don’t give a s… about thousands of fans.

My wife and I are going to do everything we can to get our daughters into another artist. You are no role model for them. They have cried for two days and you should be ashamed of yourself.

    This whole thing sickens me.

  23. Jon says:

Oh and by the way, my wife and I are David fans, so we were equally disappointed as our girls were.

    • Jeffr says:

Jon, your daughters need to become David fans (they would have anyway once they saw him in concert). No disappointment there, ever. Hope it all works out for your family.

  24. palm says:

This is an unbelievable situation. I was not even aware that something like this could happen. Whatever became of “contractual obligation”? One would think that when an artist enters into an agreement to headline a tour and perform at certain venues on certain dates, that there would be some obligation on the part of that artist to fulfill that obligation. The Atlantic City show was sold out. How many fans were slated to attend that one show alone? I hope miss Lovato remembers this when her next tour, if there is one, fails to sell. Who could have any confidence, after going to considerable expense and effort to attend one of her shows, that she will ulitmately show up? I doubt that those parents that were left holding the bag and explaining to their heartbroken children why the concert that they have been waiting to attend all summer was cancelled, and only a few short days before the show, will be willing to risk having to go through that misery again. Miss Lovato, this is a stunt a legendary diva such as Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey might possibly get away with relatively unscathed but, I’m afraid, you don’t even begin to fall into that category. When your career starts going south in the coming year, at least you won’t have to scratch your head and wonder what happened……you’ll already know. Enjoy your weekend off, Ms. Lovato.

  25. raelovngangels says:

Bad move. And to pull David Archuleta into this is absurd when we all know he honors his commitments.

  26. Kerri says:

I have never heard of any artist doing something like this. To cancel 3 shows days before it unheard of. This was all Demi and her people. David had nothing to do with it so why is his name up there in the headlines even. Demi and Disney want you to think it is not just Demi is why….but it is. She did this before on this tour…cancelled some shows, but David and his people dug around and were able to schedule solo shows for him on those nights that Demi cancelled on him. I heard some folks were charged a cancellation fee by the airports of more than $100 when they cancelled their tickets. When I think about all the fans that were inconvenience by this it makes me sick to my stomach…I wouldn’t blame any of them for not going to the rescheduled ones and saving their money to go to more than one of the David Christmas tours..that is what I am going to do because you know what I know David Archuleta will be there unless some tragedy strikes. He won’t cancel because he needs to rest and get his beauty sleep like Demi.

    • Demi Demi Demi says:

How do you know? Grow up! Go to a solo David A show and you will fall asleep from boredom.

      • palm says:

….and I suppose you speak from experience???

      • violet4ever says:

You are so wrong – you obviously have never been to a solo David Archuleta concert. He’s amazing at his solo shows. David had a number of them on this tour to make up for the Demi’s State Fairs (which were marked as Demi only after many David fans bought tickets to them and missed good seats at other concerts, including me), and the canceled Demi shows earlier in the tour.

Ok. thank´s Demi demi demi. you just had proven that you´re so stupid as your nickname.
If you call a david archuleta concert bored, is because you have no idea what GOOD music is. So keep listen that terrible noise that some of you call demi´s music. But be carefull because you have 80% of posibilities that she cancel her next show.
open your eyes stupid, the diva that you admire, only cares about your money, not her fans. the cancelation of three shows just because she nedds to sleep is a prove of that.

  27. Tom says:

You need to change the title to this article!!!!!

DEMI LOVATO POSTPONES SELECT DATES ON SUMMER TOUR AND HAS DONE IT BEFORE ON THIS VERY SAME TOUR!!!!

Leave David A. out of it…he scheduled solo concerts before when she did this just so his fans wouldn’t be disappointed. But Demi and Disney don’t care about their fans I don’t guess and are not considerate of David’s fans either. This is beyond my comprehension. Never heard of such a thing. I know one thing she has lost lots of fans over this. I could understand if she was deathly sick or someone close to her died or something but that is the only reasons I can think of that anyone in their right minds would cancel the last 3 shows on a tour days before the concerts…and I know for a fact one of them was sold out and all of David’s VIPS were sold out.

  28. Tom says:

Oh and by the way when she cancelled the other concerts she did not even bother rescheduling them……

  29. grrrrr dismayed fan says:

GOSH, WHEN I HEARD OF THE CANCELLATION SHOW IN AC, I WAS DEVASTATED…I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT TO MEET MY FAVORITE SINGER….AND THEN I LEARNED, THE REASON FORTHE CANCELLATION WAS FOR THE FAIL DIVA TO GET A DAY OFF IN PREPARATION FOR HER UPCOMING MOVIE..WTH?????DISNEY AND THIS FAIL DIVA ARE SO INCONSIDERATE BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND HEARTLESS….THEY DID NOT THINK ALL THE EFFORT,TIME AND MONEY SPENT IN PREPARATION FOR THIS CONCERT…NOW THE RESCHEDULED DATE IS NOT WORKABLE FOR ME…SO WHAT HAPPEN TO ME NOW?NOTHING????THAT’S ALL I’VE GOT BY SUPPORTING THIS FAIL DIVA PRINCESS THAT CAN’T EVEN SING?GOSH, I WILL NOT, EVER.EVER SUPPORT HER IN HER UPCOMING CONCERTS,MOVIES AND TV SHOW..I WAS HURT AND I FELT BETRAYED!

  30. Demi Demi Demi says:

Alot of you all need to quit bitching and moaning. You we’rent even going to the rescheduled shows and you’re not even Demi fans so don;t act like she lost your support. You David A fans are so delusional!

    • palm says:

Why don’t you offer some sort of explanation of how these cancellations can be considered acceptable. Demi sure hasn’t…..and you have no clue who’s fan I am. Do you have young kids you were planning to take to Demi’s Atlantic city show? I didn’t think so.

The only delusional fans out there are those who think Demi Lovato is a professional performer who holds one ounce of respect or gratitude for her fans.

    • Anonymous says:

You know, if you were going to one of these concerts, I’m almost positive that you would be just as mad as the people on here.

  31. GMAX4 says:

There is so much anger out there because of Disney cancelling the last three shows. I have NEVER heard of such a thing before. I just am still reeling from the “shock and awe” of it all!!

I feel so sad for all of the fans who were not treated with respect. People made plans all summer, purchased airline tickets from all over our country, Canada, and internationally. Days were taken off work, vacations planned around this tour. Let’s not forget the hotels that were reserved, and reunions planned around this most anticipated weekend. Little children who follow Demi were crying for days. What could possess anyone to possibly dissappoint these people. My heart just cannot fathom anyone doing that.
What I DO know is that DAVID ARCULETA’S name should have NEVER been used in the cancellation headline!!! He wasn’t good enough to promote on the tour, but all of a sudden it is partially his fault!!! That is too bad! You have mislead the public, and that is shameful. David does not deserve to be treated in that way. Last week when he was hoarse, and on vocal rest, he still found a way to treat his fans to such memorable VIP’s. and concerts! He honored every committment each and every night, even though he couldn’t talk. That is a professional!!! He loves his fans, and treats them with soooo much care , love and respect ALWAYS. We will always be here for him, because he gives his heart and soul to his profession, and to his fansfriends and family! David is a “CLASS ACT”, and his fans feel so blessed to be able to share his journey with him. We love David, and will be there for him through every bump and turn in the road. He is the “real deal”!

  32. concertgoer says:

First of all this is a response to Demi Demi Demi…..if you were a real fan of Demi you would be upset too. So since you are not you do not need to post here and cause problems…. These cancellations yes about 6 I believe are Demi’s and Disney’s fault…..not David. At least David tried and rescheduled 2 of the earlier cancellations…couldnt on the other 1 because no time to reschedule. Uh…did Demi reschedule….uh no…. Cancelling the last 3 concert dates was well uh horrible in my eyes….lots of people Demi and David fans were travelling to make a weekend out of it and now have to cancel and are getting NO refund on flights …… So to David I am sorry that Disney has done this to you and Demi well honey ……uh….I hope you enjoy your days off because thousands of people are NOT…. David you are one class act even performing when you basically had no voice and went on vocal rest for a week to be able to perform at night …..yes….for your fans…THANK YOU FOR NOT CANCELLING…..LIKE I SAID YOU ARE ONE CLASS ACT!!!!

  33. Cameron says:

I’m sorry that the comments here are painting the Archuleta fans as an ungrateful negative bunch. In reality, David’s fans are great people who are passionate about him, and don’t like to see bad things happen to him.
But at the same time, I completely understand the disappointment. The short notice on the cancellation has not only disappointed numerous people, but also cost them alot of money in hotel and airline fees.
I think we’re grateful that David was exposed to Demi’s fans on the tour, but the suspect reason that the tour is rescheduled, on such short notice, has soured many people.

    • Alyson says:

Wow Cameron! You are the most mature people in this subject.

David A fans will soon rival Claymates in terms of insanity if you guys don’t try to act with some maturity. The situation for sure sucks, but calling Demi a no talent bitch is soooooo uncalled for!!

      • Demi Demi Demi says:

Cameron and Alyson, you 2 are the smartest people here. You can be disapointed BUT STOP PLACING BLAME WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! Anything you have heard is speculation unless you work for Demi, David and Disney.

And for the 40 and 50 year olds calling Demi a bitch and diva, I think you proved to be much worse than what you say she is!

        • abe says:

So then, give us truthful reasons why she canceled the shows. Do you know some international fans already bought plane tickets and booked hotels to go several shows in a row? I demand full REFUND FOR PLANE TICKETS AND HOTELS FOR INTERNATIONAL FANS. Demi’s management should pay for them!!

        • Anonymous says:

We do know for a fact, though, that David Archuleta had nothing to do with the cancelations. A fan site contacted his management and they said themselves that David was not the reason for canceling. So don’t start insulting him. I know you have; I saw your posts above.

  34. Kaitie says:

Well, wow. I’ll admit right out front that I’m a David Archuleta fan. I didn’t have tickets to these last shows, so I am not personally affected, and yet my perception of Ms. Lovato has changed. I saw her on his tour and had learned that I liked her voice, especially when she sang the more bluesy songs that highlighted a more mature tone. I understand that she may have been tired and may have felt ill-prepared to jump from touring to filming. But to cancel the last three shows, knowing that thousands of her own fans would be disappointed at the least, and in some cases severely inconvenienced, just seems selfish. Still, she is barely seventeen. Seems that Disney could have found a way around the timing issues.

I’m not sure why David Archuleta’s name was attached to this article, unless promoters realized that a portion of the audience was there solely for David. Now, there’s a hard working teenager who seems to have a great attitude. He’s committed to his art and to his fans. He’s the one I’ll keep watching and supporting.

  35. taelah agostino says:

if i lived in america i would DEFINETLY be going to ddLovato’s concert. BTW: GET OVER IT! demi DESERVES a break! she ONLY JUST TURNED 17 she is still young and is thoroughly EXHASUTED imagine performing in the middle of summer every night for two hours under heat lights jumping around you would feel terrible. the fans must b dissapointed but it is not demi’s fault. SHE IS NOT A DISNEY DIVA. SHE NEEDS AND DESERVES A BREAK. DEMI, PLEASE COME TO AUSTRALIA! WE NEED SOME LOVATO!

    • Anonymous says:

I understand your point, but David was on American Idol when he was 16 and barely 17 and touring at 17 and all of his 18th year. He’s not even 19 yet. And Demi isn’t the only one having to perform under the hot lights in the summer, David is as well. And David for over a week was extremely sick to the point he had to change around notes in his songs and he had to be on vocal rest and not be able to talk unless it was singing, and has just in general has felt horrible recently and he still made sure he could sing and give it his all. He even ran off the stage at a show a few days ago because he was so sick. I’m a David Archuleta fan and I’ve recently become a Demi fan throughout this experience. I really like her. I think she’s a sweet, funny, talented girl. And I’m not accusing her of doing this to take a break. I won’t accuse her of anything until there’s proof, which is starting to form at about this point, especially with her deleting her tweets about needing a break. My opinion is that the Demi fans that are bashing us David fans is not the best thing to do at this point. I’m not personally affected by this situation and feel terrible for the people that were. There were SOLD OUT shows cancelled, and all of David’s VIPs were sold out. People all over the world were flying to see him, and for this whole tour some of the David fans have stayed while Demi sang to respect her. The main thing that made me mad about this whole situation is how they tried to bring David’s name into the rescheduling statement! Saying that “Demi Lovato and David Archuleta announced…” No. David didn’t announce anything. And David is exhausted too, as you can imagine. He doesn’t complain and he doesn’t whine and he doesn’t say that he ‘needs a break’. He sits on his bus for hours and reads through letters fans have written and personally goes through the gifts and wear things people have given him. He could just sleep. David would do anything in his power to not let his fans down. This isn’t the first time he’s been sick and been on tour. He was pretty sick a few times during the American Idol tour. I’ve never heard him complain. Because he truly appreciates his fans and all they’ve done and wouldn’t cancel a show unless it was something that could put his life in danger, and even then would probably try to go on. And she deserves a break? They don’t go on a new stop every day usually. They just recently had a 2 day break and then a 3 day break after a stop. They’ve had a LOT of breaks. I understand that Demi’s young and probably feels overwhelmed, but if she cancelled just because she needed a break, it’s something I frown upon.

    • Bonnie says:

She is definitely a Diva! She didn’t even have the decency to apologize for the extremely short notice for the cancellations and no explanation for it. Her fans must be used to her treating them this way, but I know other artists have at least a little respect for their fans. Then she pulls David Archuleta’s name in it like he had something to do with it. She should be ashamed of her spoiled self!

      • taelah agostino says:

i dont care about david, sorry. compared to demi, he sucks some major monkey balls. sorry to all the david fans out there, but honestly idk why everyone is whinging and complaining. oh my god, it was almost a yr ago.

fact: The subject matter of this article that we are all commenting about refers to Demi taking a break before filming CR2 by cancelling the last three shows of her tour.

fact: Demi posted numerous references on her twitter account last week complaining about not having the time off prior to filming to rest and relax.

fact: The cancellations were announced only three days prior the scheduled shows, making it difficult, if not impossible, for people to change their plans and arrange for refunds, even though the filming schedule was set for CR2 prior to the concert schedule.

fact: The tweets on Demi’s account miraculously disappeared once the news of the cancellations had broken.

fact: The people affected have a right to be disgusted by all of this….like it or not.

fact: David Archuleta is currently on his FOURTH tour of the year, including tours thoughout the UK and Asia and has not cancelled a single show.

fact: Disney should not have made Demi the headliner of her own tour. She is obviously not ready or incapable professionally to handle that kind of responsibility as evidenced by what has occurred throughout the course of this tour.

  37. Kelly says:

Am I missing something here? How do we know for sure that Demi was the reason for the cancellation? Look at the press release. It says: Citing scheduling conflicts, Demi Lovato AND David Archuleta announced three rescheduled shows today”. Who says that are Demi’s scheduling conflicts? Until we hear the real reason for the cancellation, we should not all dump on Demi. I’m sure all these David Archuleta fans wouldn’t like it if we all started blaming him for these cancellations.

    • tiffany says:

i saw demi complain about her days off on twitter then the shows got cancelled!!! you have to be brain dead to not see the connection!! face it! it’s demi’s fault. she does not have the work ethic. do you think beyonce made it to the top by taking days off when her schedule changed? NO!!!! she kept working because she is made for this! david was SICK AND LOST HIS VOICE!!!!!! but he went out there every night. he isn’t much older than demi so don’t blame him and don’t blame age!

    • concertgoer says:

Because Demi said in her tweets she wanteds days off to rest before doing Camp Rock 2………. Now all of a sudden those tweets are gone….hmmmmmm……….

    • palm says:

Kelly, David twittered last night, in response to someone who commented to him about it, that he had nothing to do with it. Now, if you want to call him a liar….

      • Kelly says:

I surprised he twittered that. Isn’t he sort of pushing Demi under the bus? Just saying…

        • Kelly says:

Palm: I am replying to myself but I read David’s tweet. It is actually pretty clear that he did not want to reschedule. Hopefully Demi will let us know more about what the scheduling conflict was. Strange.

        • Demi Demi Demi says:

          Yeah, what a “class act”.

          • abe says:

You just don’t know the situation. Why would he reschedule them when Demi and Disney have already rescheduled for the end of October and November? She really needs to learn how to be a ‘pro’.

    • violet4ever says:

A fansite contacted David Archuleta’s management and they said these cancellations had nothing to do with David, just like earlier in the tour when they had nothing to do with David and he went on to do solo tours for his fans on most of those days (because the cancellations were known far enough in advance for his management to arrange those). David said he had nothing to do with the cancellations. Demi is not saying anything and removed tweets about not having a break before the filming. At a concert on Aug 18th at the DTE center, Demi told the audience she starts filming Camp Rock 2 in a week.

So sounds like Disney canceled. But sounds like doesn’t matter because you all know these concerts would have gone on anyway if it had been David with the scheduling problem! David was her guest. She was the headliner. Her concerts would not have been canceled if an opening act couldn’t be there. They would have just gotten another opening act.

      • Kelly says:

Thanks for all the info. I still think we should not be so hard on Demi. She is just a child. I am sure she will regret this decision later in life. Hopefully when she grows up she will learn to think about the impact that her decisions will have on others before she makes them.

    • Bonnie says:

That is exactly why she put David Archuleta’s name on the press release, so she wouldn’t have to take all the blame. David said on his twitter that it wasn’t up to him. I don’t think she has any respect for her’s (or anybody else’s) fans or cares what a hardship the late notice of cancellation put on people. She was only thinking of herself!

  38. Melissa says:

Should have purchased tickets to see David Cook!

  39. robert says:

yes demi demi demi – he is a class act, and much more… a professional.

please don’t try to use demi’s youth as an excuse.. david was 17 last year, while undertaking a rigorous summer of american idol touring, and there were days when he was tired, and sick, on full vocal rest, but he still came out on the lines to autograph and take pictures, showed up at the after concert meet and greets, and still came out on the concert stage, every night, to sing..

it’s a perception of professionalism and respect for the audience that i think is creating the disconnect between the archuleta fans and disney here… and please don’t paint the archuleta fans with the claymates brush – archuleta fans have a legitimate right to be upset, and this right has nothing to do with immaturity or a feeling of entitlement…. if some went overboard in that upset, i’m not excusing it, but in this case, it’s understandable.. people sacrifice lots of time, and money to go see david – some travel from other countries in anticipation of seeing him, at all his shows, so the dismissive tone of ”delusional” fans doesn’t wash..

in life, mistakes happens, circumstances beyond our control and ken will occur… in this case, it appears a lot of this could have been avoid if disney had beem more forthcoming and timely in their communication with both fanbases… i’m not here to slag demi, or to create trouble, but disney blew it, and there is no amount of spin that is going to wash this sour taste out of the mouths of a lot of fans, from both sides.

  40. Lizzy says:

Robert:I agree with you .I was going to attend the Ac Concert flying from LA so my two daughters and myself could attend the concert. One of my daughters is a Demi fan and my oldest daughter and myself are fans of David, so dissapointment is on both sides because we had to cancel our flights, hotel reservation with only two days notice.I wont make Demi responsible because bottom line she is still a child but Disney should of have more respect for us the fans who made these tours successful buying tickets and merchandise at the concerts.

  41. Sarah says:

I’m not going to say I’m not disappointed, because I am. I was supposed to go to the Manchester show, and I was really excited. But seriously, give poor Demi a break. Yes, I heard all about the comments she made on twitter. But that doesn’t mean David didn’t have anything to do with it. It’s not like they didn’t reschedule and offer to give full refunds. Demi’s only seventeen, and she’s human like the rest of us. If she needs a break, she needs a break. That doesn’t make her a diva. That makes her human.

    • abe says:

It’s not about her and her age. It’s about respecting others, fans, who spend money for singers while she makes more money for herself. You will understand when you grow up and have a job. People get fired when they have frequent breaks without reasonable causes.

    • Bonnie says:

David has never cancelled any shows in all four of his tours this year, both stateside and internationally. Demi has cancelled 6 shows in one tour. Do the math and then try to figure out who did the cancelling in this instance. She is proven to be unprofessional and that reputation will stick with her for ever!

  42. hello says:

I understand everyone from Demi and David’s fans being very upset about the 3 tours being cancelled. It sounds like Disney is making this Camp Rock 2 movie more important than Demi’s tour right now by cancelling 3 shows at the last minute……that is sad and impacts on Demi. Disney has known about these concerts dates from the beginning and should of stayed with the original schedule …instead of deciding the last minute to cancel……Doesnt not look good for them and for Demi too……not far….

  43. Lynette says:

Do you guys really think Demi has as much power as you give her? This is clearly Disney’s doing. Demi might benefit since she wanted to have a few days off, but I really and truly doubt she could wave her magic wand and make the final decision to cancel these shows. Disney clearly wanted their Camp Rock 2 star refreshed for the movie. She can’t be that way if she has to work back to back to back then film. They made the final decision. Be mad at them, not Demi!

    • Demi Demi Demi says:

      Someone with a brain, finally!

    • robert says:

i think most people are placing the blame where it belongs – squarely in disney’s lap… but demi is representing the disney brand, she is the headliner on this tour, so deservedly or not,she in essence has become the focal point for a lot of the disappointment and anger. and sorry – i still think it’s a poor business decision to cancel the final three shows on the tour – especially atlantic city, as it was sold out – who in their right mind cancels a sold out venue, in atlantic city… disney bean counters i assume, but rest assured, no corporation is immune these days to negative publicity, or from consumers being very careful where they will choose to spend their dwindling discretionary dollars in the future…

there have been thousands of fans affected by this decision that will remember this, and think long and hard regarding if the disney brand, and its product are trustworthy, and worthy of their dollars…

  44. Marcela says:

Demi is a teenager so is David too( just 1 year an a half more older), both of them have additional engagements at long with the tour, (albums, recordings sessionn and films), both of them have managers who are in the long shoot who take the decisions about their schedules, Is no right from the promoters to share the responsability of the cancellations with DA, because is clear is not his fault, if the opener or special guest have a problem, well they can choice another,So the fault is not maybe directly of Demi , but definitaly from Demis people. Now if the reasons are just Demis need a break, PLEASE!, even if a like her , is not right, not professional of her part, if she want to go up in her career she need to show more respect for her fans and even for the other singers fans, neither her or David are that big already to do this kind of…well big disappointed moves to the fans. I hope is a valid reason from Demis side, and hope too the two fanbase can make the peace, because we have many little fans who adore Demi and David and they gonna have the concerts on OCT/NOV…is not good bashing the two youngs stars, i think is the first big professional challenge( problem) the have to make face, they and her gonna learn from this situation.bye

  45. PaulaMo says:

I am a huge David fan, and from what I know of his personality, he would hate all of this bickering and fighting. I do understand the disappointment of the cancelled concerts, I saw them in Nashville and loved the concert, but if you are old enough to type a comment, then you are old enough to handle this more maturely than some of the negative comments here. The fact is, we don’t know why the concerts were cancelled, and my strong opinion is that Disney’s schedule had something to do with it. Nevertheless, don’t start a Demi/David fan war. They seem to be good friends, I know that David has promoted her new album and supported her at all of the concerts and spoken very positively about her. Take a deep breath. I’m sorry that some folks are disappointed and cannot attend the concert. It would hurt my feelings, too. This, too shall pass.

I’m a David fan. But I read through these and realized something. Remember how there was that whole Demi’s a cutter thing with pictures of her wrist? Maybe she’s going through a very hard time and feels like she truly can’t handle it. I know that if you’re going through a difficult time personally and add stress, sometimes it gets too much. That’s only to IF this is about her wanting a break. This might’ve been all her idea. Maybe David can handle this kind of stuff and stress better than her, who knows. They’re both people. And bashing Demi won’t change anything. Try to put yourself in someone else’s shoes if you haven’t already, please. I knew at 14 school was almost too much to handle sometimes. Imagine her position if her needing a break is the case.

  48. Anonymous says:

wow what a disappointment everyone should stick together and dont go to any of her concerts poor thing has to rest. dont go.

  49. Anonymous says:

I WAS MORE DISAPPOINTED THAT I DIDNT GET TO SEE DAVID , I NEVER HEARD OF DISAPPOINTING SO MANY PEOPLE BECAUSE SHE NEEDS REST. DAVID GO ON YOUR OWN

  50. robin says:

I know David would not want his fans to be mean or rude to Demi, so I am not gonna spectulate on why these shows were cancelled, nor do I have anything disrespectfull to say about Demi. I do however wonder why it becomes Demi and David tour now that there is bad news when before David’s name was hidden as the special guest and not even mentioned at all in some advertisements??? Very poor taste in doing that. David has very loyal and protective fans and for this cancellation to appear to be a joint decision is no fair. I hope that in the future David does solo show (even if that means smaller venues) and I wish Demi all the best with her shows too. (even though she may have to win back some fan confidence) David shines in his solo shows and seems to enjoy them more…..he has a large enough fan base to support them.

  51. Anonymous says:

OK, I posted once, but suddenly I feel compelled again. For starters, I’m a huge fan of David’s. HUGE. To be honest, no, we shouldn’t assume that Demi was responsible for the “scheduling conflicts.” But when bad things happen, ppl need a face to connect with the action. The only face we have right now is Demi’s, so until the real culprit steps up to the plate…Demi it is.

A “scheduling conflict” is no excuse to wait until 4 days before a concert to announce that it’s cancelled. People weren’t given enough to change their plans without being penalized. There is no excuse for that. Whoever is responsible needs to admit their mistake and offer to compensate all these fans who lost wages, vacation time, tons of time and money on plane tickets, hotel reservations and cancellation penalties. Not to mention the thousands of fans (both David’s and Demi’s) whose hearts have been broken. Someone really needs to be held accountable this time. What a disaster.

  52. anon says:

I do agree that Demi would probably not have enough pull to make the call on something this big –

I do know that David did not have scheduling conflicts and was not trying to throw Demi under the bus with his tweet, he was merely answering a question honestly, he did not point any fingers just politely said he was sorry and it wasn’t up to him.

It comes down to business and I’m sure Disney weighed the options and the canceled concerts gave them the better bottom line somehow. It’s a business to them. The fans feelings were obviously not as important to them. They can always manufacture more.

The David fans have a right to be upset with whoever made this decision and who is now attaching his name to the cancellations. I know the concert in my city never even mentioned David’s name anywhere – it you were not a fan that visited the internet you would have had no way to know that he was appearing with Demi, so for the promoters of the concert (which is who is probably responsible for the press releases) to all of a sudden recognize David as equally as Demi is sort of a slap in the face, in fact on one of Demi’s sites David’s name was actually listed first as if to intimate that he were the one that canceled. I agree with whoever said that if it were David canceling they would have gone ahead with a new “special guest”.

But bottom line – let’s play nice – until I hear for a fact that Demi threw a tantrum and Disney gave her, her way we should just be upset with the suits calling the shots.

  53. Joy says:

I am a huge David fan. These cancellations do not effect me since I already saw David in Del Mar and with Demi at the Nokia. But, I have to say it was not a nice thing to cancel the concerts with such short notice. I agree that we really don’t know what the real reason is– maybe it was that Demi complained and wanted time off, but no one really knows. What I do know is that is was not up to David so I agree his name should not have been linked to the cancellations. The most important this was that a lot of fans spent money for tickets, hotels and even plane fares in some cases and this was really bad. I am sorry for them. That’s all I have to say.

  54. Indigowaves2 says:

A lot of people are solely blaming Demi and it makes me wonder, is it really possible that Disney would cancel sold out shows just because she complained about wanting a break? Maybe I am being naive and don’t like to think that one 16 girl could have that much influence. I mean she works for Disney, Disney doesn’t work for her. Somebody obviously made a big mistake and if it was Demi than I have to admit I have a hard time wrapping my head around why Disney would let her call the shots like that.

    • kimk says:

Hey I wonder that too? Who would schedule a long tour and bam right away start filming a movie? I was going and lost a lot and gosh this just stinks all around. I can’t go in November and to be honest am scared to even try because it could happen again? I guess it is not fair to compare him to her. Just hope Disney can do a lot for David and his fans as he is such a wonderful and talented young man and he deserves all the best and his fans are really just the best!

  55. Portia11 says:

David Archuleta’a name has been in the small print at the bottom (if mentioned
at all) in ALL the publicity for the DEMI LOVATO tour. Do you really think
a concert would be canceled if David had a “scheduling conflict”? Or the last
three concerts of the DEMI LOVATO tour? How about the canceled SOLD OUT Atlantic City concert? So Hollywood Records/Disney/Demi Lovato DO NOT make David Archuleta a HEADLINER for your last minute cancellation notice. He had
nothing to do with it-shame on you because you know it. You left him so little time (3 days) he is unable to schedule his own venues so his fans won’t be disappointed. Note to Hollywood Records and Disney when Demi tweets for a week about “can’t sleep”, “exhausted”, “no break before filming starts” some action, other than deleting the tweets, might be in order.
    appropriate.

  56. kimk says:

Demi Demi Demi I was going and I live in NC. You don’t cancel a sold out show at the Taj on a Saturday night in the summer 4 days before unless you are not well or some other misfortunate circumstance. I blame her team for scheduling what is obviously a very young girl such a grueling schedule and it almost seems like child labor laws should click in here. I feel sorry for all the fans who were going not just Davids and gosh will wait for a David solo next time or a concert with a more mature and not Disney performer so I know things will work out the way we would most expect. I kind of blame myself because I knew she cancelled before but would have never dreamed she would cancel the Taj! Not a good idea on that one. Bad career move.

  57. Autumn says:

So sad! I feel so terribly bad for all the fans that are unable to conpensate their hotels, plane tickets, and etc. Bad move of Disney and Demi on their part but to drag David’s name to the cancellation is a disgrace to the music industry. David has nothing to do with this, he loves his fans and will not let his fans disappointed. He has lot of respect for his fans and that’s one of the reason why his fans love and respect him in return. His fans will move heaven and earth to support him, because he’s that great. I have never heard of Demi before and the only reason I heard of her is because to support David only. I was trying to give Demi respect, because I don’t want to disappoint David but after this stunt, I will never trust Disney and Demi again. Too bad for Demi/Disney this will affect their credibility. And one thing excusing Demi that she is young,???? David is young too and he’s very professinal in everyway. People could learn from him. He’s a great example what is professionlism is all about. He give his all into his craft 110% sick or not. He’s the real deal and one in a million with a great voice and a very talented artist. I for one will keep supporting him. Can’t wait for his upcoming Christmas album ” Christmas From The Heart” to be realease on Oct.13 and is availabe for pre order at Amazon. Also can’t wait for all his future albums and solo concerts

  58. Grandma says:

I let my grandgirls pick a concert I would take them to. They had to choose between Demi, Taylor, Miley or Jonas. They chose Demi. Do you know how disappointed those little girls are? Ask them who they would rather go see now? Too late to get diferent tickets for someone else. David fans will see maney more performances and concerts by this young man. Disney, this put a bad taste in Demi’s young fans!

    • palm says:

I’m so sorry for your granddaughters disappointment. This is the segment of the fan population my heart goes out to most….the little kids who were so looking forward to seeing their Disney idol and have no understanding of why their dream isn’t coming true. Regardless of the reasons why it happened, it’s very, very sad no matter how you slice it.

  59. Dee says:

Now am I to ASSUME that since David’s NAME has been ATTACHED to the cancellations, ie…Demi Lovato AND David Archuleta postpone, etc, etc…Am I to ASSUME that for the RESCHEDULED concerts David WILL BE the CO-HEADLINER and not the “Special guest”??

Having David as a CO-HEADLINER with a FULL SET may make up for ME having to cancel and reschedule my flight, car rental, and hotel reservations for ALL three concerts!

I am not placing blame directly on Demi as she is not yet a STAR, the likes of a Miley or a Brittney, or a Beyonce..who COULD cancel at the drop of a hat, so I ASSUME (I do that a lot) it was her MGMT who cancelled..perhaps with a little whining from her, but who really knows, right?

Let me also say, with no assumptions this time, that David will NEVER say anything negative about anyone ever, especially not about a fellow performer. It’s just NOT who he is. However, why shouldn’t he say “It wasn’t up to me”? David has NEVER lied to his fans. He certainly will not start now just so as not to cast a bad light on Demi, so that was NOT his intention when he made that tweet. Anyone who “knows” David, knows that about him. He is not a perfect human being, has his faults I’m sure, but David has more integrity in his little finger, not to mention TALENT, than just about every, if not EVERY celebrity out there today. And YES he is THAT GOOD of a person and talent.

Thank you for your time. Peace!

    • palm says:

Yes, I fail to see how David politely responding to a direct inquiry from a fan can be construed as “throwing Demi under the bus”. I believe, knowing what little I do of David’s integrity and personality, that he was making every effort to not cast anyone in a bad light and I respect the fact that he chose to respond rather than simply ignore the inquiry. I would have a lot more respect for Demi, as well, if she, in any way, addressed the matter to her fans. Acknowledge it….say you’re sorry….something. All I have heard is, “Tour is done….on to Camp Rock!”. Like it or not, Demi is Disney’s voice and they should prepare some kind of response to this. It’s the decent thing to do given what has occurred.

      • Kelly says:

Palm: I made my comment about “throwing Demi under the bus” before I read David’s tweet. I have now read it and agree that he did not throw anyone under the bus. I’m actually very impressed with his answer :)

    • BABDA says:

DEE -I love your suggestion that Disney should now promote the rescheduled dates as Demi and David co-headlining! It would go far to make up for dragging David Archuleta into this mess. He is the sweetest person in the industry and deserves a lot better than this. Unfortunately, I don’t believe Disney will ever own up to this poor decision and they have nothing to gain by helping David out. I wish there was a way to contact Disney directly. Does anyone know how? (btw, I don’t blame Demi -she’s obviously just another puppet in the Disney machine. Thank God David’s not a Disney star and he can make his own decisions).

  60. Anonymous says:

I was at the Fairfax concert two days ago and the I Love All Access rep confirmed that David Archuleta had nothing to do with the show cancellations; it was solely on Demi Lovato and her people.

  61. rachel says:

I’m a David A. fan. I watch Demi’s Disney show w/ my ten year old daughter. Despite all the inconvenience and expenses the shows cancellation has brought to shows, I was really shocked with the mean, uncalled for name calling directed at Demi as a person. She’s under contract. Think of all the Disney kids you used to watch daily on TV, who are not even around anymore, after their TV shows were cancelled! There are many reported instances of David having to ask his handlers and management permission to do this and that. When you hear about artists doing outrageous things and getting away w/ it, it’s because management considers bad press, free promotion. After all, we’re still talking about Miley’s TCA performance, even if in a negative way, but we’re talking about her.
The point is: Demi doesn’t make that kind of final decision, management does.
When they scheduled her concert dates, they might not have had a date for starting filming Camp Rock 2.
Even if she was at fault, there is never an excuse to put her down like that. Learn to express your anger in a respectful way, and vent at home before posting. David would be beyond appalled; he doesn’t have a mean bone in him. He has, during American Idol, and other occasions, been inconvenienced and taken the fall and still took the high road.

  62. It's A Disney Fail says:

Like many others, we have had the rug pulled out from us by the cancellation of the AC concert. My girls love David and Demi so this was a “no-brainer” when it came time to schedule our only week off this summer. Coming from Canada I cannot get my money back for the flights (amazing that the airline doesn’t consider a cancelled Demi concert an emergency). I also can’t afford to pay for new flights to attend in Nov. We are VERY disappointed and sorry, VERY upset with Disney. No matter how you look at it this was a Disney fail and unfortunately, it reflects VERY poorly on Demi. There is absolutely NO evidence to support that David Archuleta was involved in this cancellation. Even my young girls came to that conclusion on their own (I’ve since tried to explain corporate greed and the “bottom line” to deflect the anger from Demi -not working!). They adore David (as do I) and we are keeping our fingers crossed that he will come to Toronto on his Christmas tour -we will do what it takes to support him. However, the girls do not trust Demi now and have said they don’t want to go to her concerts and stopped watching her TV show.

As a parent, I am very upset over this decision and someone from Disney should be accountable and give a GOOD explanation for the cancellations and why I am out so much money. Making David sound like he had something to do with this has truly angered me and I have lost all respect for Disney. Without the David fans, Demi’s entire tour may have been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. Just imagine how may tickets would have been sold if Disney ever bothered to mention David (before the cancellation headlines of course!).

  63. SabzAngel says:

Well, I live on the other side of the world, so I’m not affected by this..However, I’m also a David Archuleta fan..and Demi too..

First, I feel sorry to those of you who were supposed to go to those cancelled shows..I can’t imagine the disappointment you must be feeling! Second, I think this article should say, “Selected Dates on Demi/David Summer Concert Has Been Postponed”..
Third, I don’t wanna bash either singers and fans (and I suggest you guys to do the same),’cause there’s no proof to whose fault this is..
Fourth, It IS a bit odd, if the reason behind it all is the filming of CR 2..Disney CAN wait several more days, can’t they?
Fifth, the main reason why concerts are held is to simply ‘entertain’ the fans directly..not to show off what u’ve got..(the ones who are smart enough will get my point..haha)

So..I’ve said what I have to say on this matter..I hope all of the Archies and Demi fans can get along with each other and stop all these bashings..

    • Jeanne says:

wow it’s incredibly irritating to read you say stop the bashing “’cause there’s no proof to whose fault this is..” Perhaps no definitive proof it was Demi’s fault but there is definitive proof that it WAS NOT David’s fault. Therefore the fault could only lie with Disney and/or Demi. That is quite evident. Did you not read the numerous preceding comments proving the cancellations had nothing to do with David? What part of this continues to be so difficult for you to understand? You seem to imply you are smart based on your rather smug “the ones who are smart enough will get my point..haha” comment and if you are, you still don’t get it??

Whoever’s fault it was, Disney and/or Demi, it was NOT David’s so it is completely WRONG to mention his name as if he was party to the cancellations. And it is DOUBLY WRONG considering his name was either never mentioned or barely mentioned THROUGHOUT THE TOUR because this is a Demi Lovato show, not a co-headlining Demi David show, but now his name is along side hers???!!!! Puhhhleeease!

    • Jeanne says:

So I reread your comment and you are a David fan as well as a Demi fan. You wish for fans to get along. No argument there. I have great issues with the lack of acknowledgment that this is strictly a Disney/Demi deal. David’s name should not be mentioned in relation to the cancellations. Period.

As long as there is an attempt to drag his name to this, fans will object and speak their minds which has nothing to do with fans not getting along. That is not the issue.

As an ardent fan of David, an incredibly talented and exemplary human being, I can not help but defend his honor to anyone, even if you are a fellow fan, who downplays the injustice that’s been done to him. Especially when he is in a position that does not allow him to speak up for himself.

  64. Kathleen says:

I felt compelled to respond after reading through so many comments. I would especially like to respond to Demi, Demi, Demi.

First let me say that yes, I am a David Archuleta fan, but that does not mean I am going to say anything disrespectful about Demi. Until we know for sure the reason for the cancelled shows, even then…. we must be considerate. But,I am very diappointed in the way Disney has handled this whole mess. And because Demi is the show’s headliner, unfortunately she must face some of the fall out from what Disney has done. As the headliner, Demi is the star of the show…it was HER show! So I honestly do believe that if for any reason David Archuleta was unable to perform, the show would probably still have gone on with out him. At first Disney did not even mention David when they scheduled these concerts. In fact, most tickets for these shows don’t even show his name on them. He was only the ‘other’ opening act! (I think Jordin Pruett-spelling?, was also going to be opening for these last few shows and KSM was before that.) That said, yes I do feel like Disney should have done better! I only learned about this whole thing from David Archuleta’s fan sites in the first place. They let us fans know immediately. Demi and Disney on the other hand, did not say a word for at least a day! Really very unprofessional and very rude to their fans. I had tickets for the Providence show and though the show was rescheduled, I can’t attend in October. It was going to be my young niece’s (a Demi fan) first concert. She was so looking forward to it. She wanted to know whay happened and honestly I did not know what to tell her, but I was very sad to see her disappointment.

Anyway, Demi , Demi, Demi I would like to address you. What I would like you to try and understand is that even though you are not a fan of David’s …and no one wants to sway you to be! Many of us, though perhaps it wasn’t handled in the most polite way… we just want you to understand, that if you knew anything about David Archuleta and the kind of person he was, you would know that he is a true professional in every sense of the word. He cares so much about his fans that he does whatever he can to perform. He has been sick, exhausted and away from family and friends for months at a time, yet he still puts on his concerts. He apprecaites his fans and there support so much, and he loves what he does so much, that he will do whatever he can to keep his commitments. Perhaps some of us sound whiny or angry because we are so disappointed that we won’t be able to go to see the concerts that we planned so long for. Not to mention the money some of us will be losing! We are just venting, perhaps not in the right way, but that is what people do! Just like you have too… and I must remind you that in all fairness, what did you expect when you started off with a small attack about David being so boring. Perhaps you did not mean it that way , but it was a negative comment that you made. I do realize you were coming to Demi’s defense however, so I do understand it somewhat. Please try and understand that David’s fans are very passionate about him as Demi’s fans can be about her.

Anyway, I just wanted to add that most of us David fans mean no disrespet, we are just frustrated and truly disappointed. We have not liked the way Disney… and whether you like it or not Demi is a part of Disney…,we have not liked the way they have treated David and this even goes back for some of us to the whole Hanna Montanna duet. But that is a whole other can of worms!! ;) David Archuleta is probably one of the nicest and most down to earth young stars out there today, and I am sure he does not blame any one for all of this! That said, I hope we can all move on, but I must be honest, I have lost some of my respect for Disney! However, I will never lose my respect or admiration for David Archuleta.

  65. caelyn says:

This is not the first time Disney has misused David fans. Remember the duet with Miley? The single, which many David fans would have bought and did buy, did not have David’s track on it. You had to buy the entire album in order to hear David in the ‘duet.’ Disney has been good to David in other ways, but something doesn’t sit right here. They’ve seen how popular he is and know his fans will do anything to see/hear him. I doubt this was really Demi’s fault. And using David’s name is simply wrong.

But I’m not worried. Most Disney stars have a very short shelf life. David will be around for a long time. Let’s hope this is the last time he has to ‘open’ for someone.

Sorry for those who lost money on transportation and room accomodations.

It’s my genuine hope that, given the experiences that David has had with Disney related projects during the past year, that he will take a pass on any future “collaborations”with them. His choice, of course, and I’m sure he will be supported by his fans, no matter what, but I think he must be really feeling the impact of this one….Once burned, twice shy.

I saw David yesterday ~ he was in top form. I couldn’t tell you about Demi ~ as always ~ I leave after David is done. As I plan to do for the last 3 rescheduled shows. I was very fortunate to be able to change my plans last minute and will be able to attend my last 3 VIP shows with David. I had 5 in total ~

HOWEVER ~ many people I know, weren’t as fortunate ~ some only had that 1 show in Atlantic City planned. Other people I know flew across the country and were already in hotels planning the 4 day trip up the east coast.

David’s fans are loyal, as is David … David had a prescheduled radio promo in Providence Rhode Island today ~ and just because the show got rescheduled ~ he didn’t reschedule his appearance ~ he followed through with his commitment.

I too was talking to ILAA ~ and not only did David NOT have anything to do with the postponement ~ he personally had to incur additional expenses for the sudden cancellations. I won’t go into that here ~ cause it was a private conversation ~ but yeah ~ not David’s fault. And it was LITERALLY last minute. Nobody in the Archuleta camp even saw it coming ~ they were as blindsided as we were.

I agree with everyone above that said do the Math ~ David would have to have lost a limb to disappointment his fans ~ it’s just not something he’d ever do. Just go back and do your research about the 3 previous shows that were cancelled due to “scheduling” conflicts.

David rescheduled solo shows that quickly sold out in the same places so his fans would not be disappointed, go back and find out what Demi was doing on those days ~ you’ll see.

AND he’s been in the recording studio on his days off in just about every city laying down tracks for his Christmas album that’s due out October 13th.. AND going to church… AND firesides .. AND spending time with his family and friends .. AND doing promotional appearances.

David is the definition of class and professionalism.

There .. I never said a negative thing about Disney OR Demi ~ and I guess I didn’t really have to 8)

David ~ do your thing buddy ~ you are loved AND respected ~ forever and ever … see you soon.

    • palm says:

Brilliant commment…..thank you! I really enjoyed your hearing your thoughts.

…..and, if a situation did ever arise where David did need to cancel a show, and I’m sure that’s bound to happen at some point throughout the course of his career, I have every confidence that it will be done only under the most understandable of circumstances and in such a way that treats his fans in a candid and respectful manner.

this is outrageous. piss poor communication and professionalism exhibited by disney. this causes me to begin to dislike the disney machine and their tactics with a burning intensity. you all can play nice if you want – the sooner david gets away from these bastards the better. and i hope to god anyone else thinking of dealing with them in this way will think twice – disney is a third rate outfit, full of lies and bs, and i will never endorse a damn thing coming out from or sponsored by this mickey mouse outfit.

  68. alyssa says:

this aggravates me so much. i had vip tickets for atlantic city and then 3 days before, i find out its postponed. the day before i was leaving FL to come home to NJ, we planned everything around the concert so wed be home. i couldve/wouldve stood longer if i knew this. it was such a let down. my friend and i made tshirts, shirts, and a scrapbook for her birthday. the thing that annoys me the most is that she ditched us, her fans, to go back to cali and throw a bday party with her friends and make up “camp rock 2 filming interference with the tourdates” as the excuse, when it clearly wasnt the reason. the jonas brothers would have had to leave touring as well to go film? she tweeted about being upset about not having days off before she went to filming, so it seems like she managed her way with getting those days off by postponing concerts. i honestly dont even feeling doing to the rescheduled concert, (if it ever happens. so much for the “i love my fans SO much.” apparently if she did, she wouldnt have done this. i met her last yr and she was one of the nicest, most down to earth person id ever met. now im not too sure..she is coming off really careless, conceited, along with a completely different attitude. anyone else with me?

    • Indigowaves2 says:

You mean she hasn’t even started filming yet? And here I was trying to believe the best in her and that it really wasn’t her call. I swear, whenever I try to give celebrities the benefit of the doubt I end up feeling like an idiot.

      • Indigowaves2 says:

I regret saying that, I was just upset. It seems really unlikely that she had control over whether the concert was canceled or not, she’s just a kid. I’m going back to giving her the benefit of the doubt.

  69. Madalyn says:

Ok, You guys don’t understand how hard it would be to be on a movie, go straight to a tv show, go on tour, and not even have time to go home with her family before she starts another movie. Can’t you wait?! You don’t have to be so selfish.

    • Anonymous says:

Concerts were cancelled at the last minute, Madalyn. It’s about professionalism and honoring commitments.

    • Indigowaves2 says:

I don’t doubt that she is tired and her schedule has been insane, but it is not simply a matter of people having to wait a couple months to see her. It is about money lost, children greatly disappointed and crying (reading those comments were the hardest for me), confidence and trust lost in someone once looked up to and a blatant disrespect for the fans for not even addressing the situation. Being selfish really has nothing to do with it.

  70. Anonymous says:

SMH. Some of you need to act with the same amount of maturity you all keep saying David possesses. Is this disappointing? You better believe it. Do you have the right to vent about the situation? Darn right. But the back and forth and you all degrading a CHILD is immature and uncalled for.

Chances are Disney pulled the plug on the dates once they realized they were over working a young girl. Should she be held responsible for decisions made by adults? Absolutely not.And she certainly shouldn’t be subject to some of the attacks here.

Like the old saying goes, sometimes you’re only as good as the friends you keep. Well, sometimes you’re only as good as your fan base and honestly, if I were David, I would be disappointed and embarrassed by the way some of you are behaving. You’re a reflection of David, and it is a pretty poor one.

Be adult enough to understand that Demi Lovato does not hold to power to cancel tourdates and publish press releases.

  71. joe says:

We can’t tell if it’s Disney or adults that pulled the dates off either. All we know is that Demi complained about busy schedule without having a break on her twitter. They worked on Camp Rock 2 instead during those days. Could they wait for 3 days until the shows are finished? David Archuleta fans are spoiled. Do you know why? David has never canceled his own concerts (Demi cancelled 6 times) even though he had vocal problems and allergy issues and couldn’t make sound. Miraculously he could sing after rigorous treatments. He respects his fans and always tries to be in their position. I know it is difficult for a young performer to survive in this business. But there are other young ones with a professional mindset and know how to treat others.

Those criticizing David’s fanbase should realize they are generalizing emotions expressed by a few. Some people bought plane tickets and reserved hotel rooms and will lose money because of this last minute decision to postpone shows. I think they have a right to complain.

this is not fair, but come on people don’t get mad at poor demi! I mean what if you were singing like almost every night everybody needs a break right she’s only 17. SO STOP COMPLAINING AND FORGET IT OKAY!!!! Now you have something to look forward to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  78. ilovejbdavid says:

Demi Lovato was always a brat and will always be. Honestly, I WAS a fan and ignored her brattiness but I didn’t know that she would go THIS far.

What kind of business does Disney run? Disney should take notes from David Archuleta. Saying that Demi Lovato is young and is juggling everything she’s doing along with touring is NOT an excuse, when she agreed to tour she’d known the hardships she’d experience and agreed to it. Besides, Demi’s ONE year younger than David and David has allergies and vocal paralysis not to mention he gets tired too but has he ever cancelled shows? NO. David flies from Utah to LA to the place where they’re touring but has he ever cancelled? NO. I don’t think that Demi got “tired” because of all she was doing because she better learn from what David did: he toured in Asia, went back to the United States, toured in UK and went to Manila, had a couple days off, did some interviews, events, and photoshoots and went to their summer tour. Does Demi have any idea what David was doing? He was flying from country to country to state to state but never complained. He even flies back to Utah to spend time with his family! I know that filming a movie is hard but flying back from country to country is harder, have you ever heard of jet lag?

Demi’s young. She’ll learn from this huge mistake. Well, I hope she does.

I hope this is the first and last that something like this will happen from Disney and Demi (especially, Demi). I find it really rude how Disney nor Demi gave a comment about this, never even bothered to apologize or at least give the REAL reason to this.

  79. ilovejbdavid says:

Is it true that Demi said David was “boring”? If so, well Demi you don’t deserve David anyway, he has more talent and personality in his toe than you have in your entire body. Besides, I didn’t know that being nice, kind, funny, angelic, almost perfect is boring!
