Eight years ago today, the music world lost one of its brightest young stars. Aaliyah Dana Haughton, known simply as Aaliyah, died at the age of 22 in a plane crash shortly after filming wrapped for her music video Rock The Boat.
In her brief but successful career, Aaliyah delivered some of R&B’s finest tunes. From One In A Million to More Than A Woman, Aaliyah knew just how to sing a song so that you wouldn’t get tired of hearing it. There hasn’t been another artist quite like her since.
