Jay-Z Skims Over Marriage Questions, Talks Basketball On Late Show With David Letterman

Talk about being the king of brevity.
Jay-Z’s interview on the Late Show with David Letterman was jam packed with one-word answers. When he chose to use a few more words to express himself, the answer was turned into a joke.
Sounds like a lame interview, right? Wrong. The 8-minute long Q&A, though not at all revealing, is comedy gold.
The King of Rap sat down with Letterman to promote his new album, The Blueprint 3, which hit stores on September 8. When asked how the album is different from the other two in the series, Jay simply stated, “It’s three times as better.”
Dave then asked about the origins of Jay’s name. Even though he didn’t say it, it was pretty clear he meant the stage name, but the lack of specification led Dave right into Jay’s trap. “Well, my mother named me Shawn because when I was born to her that was her right.” “So then what happened?” Dave asked. “People starting calling me it,” Jay quipped.
The interview stayed on the simple side when Jay was prompted to discuss his marriage to Beyonce. “Life is really good. Very great.” So what does the music world’s biggest couple do when they’re home? “Eat.” Ahh, revelations!
Jay offered up chit-chat more when talking about the New Jersey Nets, a basketball team he partially owns, and the possibility of bringing LeBron James over.
