Teen queen Miley Cyrus is determined to be taken seriously as an artist. She won major kudos for her song The Climb off the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack but took a step back with the release of the cheesy-yet-infectious Party In The USA.
“This mainly was kind of written just as inspiration for the clothing line,” Miley told Today Show host Matt Lauer during an appearance in August. “‘Party in the USA’ has definitely done very well and I’m stoked about that, but it’s not who I am. It’s not necessarily the kind of music I want to continue to do.â€
So what kind of sound is the real Miley? Maybe it’s the laid back, more adult contemporary route taken on the song When I Look At You from Miley’s first non-Disney venture, The Last Song.
The video for the tune even takes Miley in a more serious direction. Flashy colors and crazy outfits take a back seat to scenic views, simple sundresses and a cameo from costar Liam Hemsworth. Could definitely be better vocally but the song gets thumbs up.
The movie is slated for a January 2010 release.

Is it just me, or can this girl not really sing very well? She can’t carry an actual tune. Even the currently recycled Whitney Houston can out-sing this one.
