Even though fans are still riled up over Kanye West taking Taylor Swift‘s VMA moment, Swift is being the bigger person.

West issued two apologies to Swift on his blog for interrupting her acceptance speech at Sunday’s awards show to praise his pal Beyonce who he felt deserved the award instead. He also accepted an impromptu interview request by Jay Leno on the premiere of his new show to make an emotional third apology. But on Tuesday when Swift appeared on the ABC talk show The View, she revealed he hadn’t contacted her personally.

Almost immediately after Swift performed on the show, West called the songbird to say he’s sorry — and Swift accepted his apology.

“Kanye did call Taylor to apologize while she was backstage at The View,” a statement posted on The View’s website read. “Although the contents of the conversation remain private, she has accepted Kayne’s apology.”

West stated on Leno that he would be taking some time off to analyze how he’s going to “make it through the rest of this life.”

Taylor is clearly better than many of her so called supporters.

Where are all the hateful idiots now? Are they upset that Kanye decided to man up and do the right thing and their precious Taylor accepted his apology? The world wants to live in negativity but these two are moving on. Sorry haters!

very nicely put! I agree with you. They are over it..let it be!!

LMAO! Kanye CAUSED the uproar by interrupting a televised awards ceremony. If he’d stayed in his seat like the other artists, none of this would have happened. I’d hardly describe the people who commented on what he did as “hateful idiots.” Kanye acted like a selfish idiot, though. I’m glad he apologized directly to Taylor Swift. Given he’s interrupted other awards ceremonies in the past, I hope he breaks his established cycle and stays in his own seat next time another artist receives an award. It would be great if he could man up and move beyond his own negativity and stop being such a hater himself!

I think the “hateful” comment refers to the many idiots who tried making this a racial issue. Many of Kanye’s fans whether Taylor Swift supporters want to believe it or not think he’s dead wrong for what he did. However, this is not the black and white issue people are making it out to be.

    I agree with you Alicia,
Kanye is the one who should stop acting stupid. How many times he acted stupid before? I believe people know about his behavior. I know he is still grieving for his lost, but please don’t use his mom’s dead as an excuse to do that. Tons of people lost their love ones, but it doesn’t mean that it’s OK for them to behave stupidly like Kanye and right after that to say sorry? He humiliated Taylor S. in front of millions people for God’s sake. He ruined that award night!!!!

I don’t think people are necessarily reacting this way because they’re Taylor Swift fans. Some of it is because the girl is still so young and this would have meant a lot to her. Some of it is because he has a habit of interrupting awards shows for attention. My daughter’s a Taylor Swift fan, and Taylor seems to be a role model (Taylor writes her own music, plays her own instruments, and doesn’t end up in the tabloids for underage drinking/drugging). I think Taylor must appeal to a lot of tweens, teens, young adults, etc., who have hopes/dreams and see her making hers come true – I think her fans take it a little personally since they identify with her so strongly. Plus, one of Kanye’s supposed apologies coincided with his publicity for a new song/video (Jay Leno show). It just leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths that he does this for attention at someone else’s expense. He needs to find a more mature way to promote his new songs/videos.

Kanye was scheduled to appear on Jay Leno only to perform long before any of this happened. Jay Leno requested an interview and instead of shying away from what could have gotten very ugly, Kanye faced the music and did the interview.

It would have been in bad taste for Kanye to continue with the performance as if nothing had ever happened. Not making excuses for him but lets be fair. Everyone would have bashed him if he appeared on national tv just a day after the incident and didn’t address it.

It didn’t occur to me the appearance on Jay Leno was pre-scheduled. It’s nice he apologized (although some of the wording of the one on his blog just struck me the wrong way), but it would be nicer if he stopped interrupting attention for other artists at awards shows. Nobody’s perfect, but he’s had so much success it’s hard to understand why he seems to be acting out for even more attention….
