Selena Gomez, known mostly for her role as a wise cracking wizard on the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place, just released her debut album, Kiss & Tell, with her band The Scene today. She stopped by the Dancing with the Stars results show to perform the lead single from the set, the pop-meets-rock-ish cut “Falling Down.”
The 17-year-old, dressed in a shiny mini-dress, was understandably nervous about her big primetime gig, but that’s no excuse for the rough patches that pretty much lasted throughout the entire almost-three-minute long performance. She relied too heavily on her backup singers when it came to the parts that required more than rap-singing and she sounded out of breath after only the first verse.
Sure, Disney’s idea is to capitalize on their young stars while they’re hot, but Selena doesn’t seem ready…or maybe this is just a one-off bad performance. Check it and see for yourself!
