It’s officially comeback season for Chris Brown.
The 20-year-old R&B/pop sensation refuses to let his personal woes take his career down without a fight. And why should he? He clearly has a fanbase still willing to support him. That’s not speculation — the proof is in the charts.
Not even a full day after premiering his new single, “I Can Transform Ya” featuring Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz, the song debuted on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart at No. 92.
The tally was based off of strong radio play alone, as the single isn’t available for download yet. It’s a huge victory for Brown who saw his music being pulled from stations around the country following his highly publicized assault on Rihanna in February.
“I Can Transform Ya” is just a sample of what Brown has to come on his third album, Graffiti. He’s planning on releasing another single, a ballad called “Crawl,” in the coming weeks according to a post he made on Twitter. “Wanna make sure I give the fans a lot of music so y’all know my album is fire,” he tweeted.
There’s still no official word from Brown’s label, Jive Records, on when Graffiti will be released, but Brown is aiming for early 2010.
