It came as a shock to many when it was announced late yesterday (October 1) that Kanye West and Lady GaGa‘s elaborate joint outing, The Fame Kills Tour, was canceled.
While Live Nation, the tour’s promoter, didn’t give a specific reason for the cancellation, rumors immediately started flying. Was it low ticket sales? A power battle between two gigantic stars? TMZ says both were the likely cause, but Lady GaGa has spoken out to dead the rumors before they go any further.
“It was a mutual decision,” GaGa told Billboard.com today at its annual Women in Music event in New York City. GaGa was being honored with their Rising Star Award. “Kanye’s going to take some time off.”
Fans of the rapper were surprised when the dates for the tour were announced not long after he revealed on The Jay Leno Show that he would be taking a break from music following his highly publicized tirade against Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
GaGa doesn’t want her fans to count her out, though. “The good news is that I’m going on tour in a few weeks,” she said.
Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Less Kanye, more trannye!
