New Music: Mariah Carey Featuring Jermaine Dupri, OJ Da Juiceman, Big Boi And Gucci Mane – H.A.T.E.U. Remix

When Mariah Carey needs a remix, Jermaine Dupri is always in her corner to deliver. The old buds joined forces on the remix to MiMi’s next single, “H.A.T.E.U.,” from her just released album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

The good here is that unlike many of the “remixes” released these days, the song is completely different from the original. (Mariah performed the smooth jam on the Today Show a last week.) No lazy cut and paste a feature by a rapper and peddle it as a hot remix here.

The bad thing: With verses by OJ Da Juiceman, Big Boi, and Gucci Mane, the song suffers from having just far too many cooks in the kitchen. Not to mention the remix reuses the beat and samples lyrics from the GhostTown DJs’ “My Boo.” (Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of them. Besides this song, the rest of their songs reside in a ghost town.) Not really a good idea for a sample, unless your goal is to have feelings of nostalgia fill you when you flip on the radio.
