Exclusive Live Shots: Pop/Rock Singer Vita Chambers Makes Baltimore’s Ottobar Go ‘Boom’

It was a chilly Wednesday night on October 7 in Baltimore, Maryland, but on stage at the rustic dive The Ottobar, the temperature was high thanks in part to a little island sunshine brought by Barbados native Vita Chambers.
The 15-year-old pop/rock upstart made her mixed bag of influences known as she performed songs from her as-yet-untitled debut album, backed by a three-piece band. She channeled Pink, Katy Perry, and Fefe Dobson while bouncing around on stage with a zest that told her age and explained why she’s being called the “Bajan Miley Cyrus.” Luckily for Vita, her vocals are much stronger than the Hannah Montana star, as showcased in her closing number, the click-clacking bass-bumper “Like Boom.”
