A man was arrested for allegedly slapping British singing sensation Leona Lewis at her book signing in London, BBC News confirms.
Lewis was at a Waterstones book store at Piccadilly signing copies of her autobiography, Dreams, when an unidentified man attacked the singer for no apparent reason.
“There was an incident at our Leona Lewis signing this afternoon and the event was immediately stopped,” Waterstones said in a statement. “We are now doing everything we can to support the police in their enquiries.
“We take security at our book signings extremely seriously and this is the first time anything of this nature has happened.
“We would like to thank Leona for her professionalism and we are extremely sad that this event was ruined for her, and her fans, many of whom queued from the early hours of the morning to meet her.”
While Lewis required no medical attention, a spokesperson for the 24-year-old X Factor winner said she is “understandably badly shaken” and wishes to apologize to the fans she was unable to meet.
