New Video: Jason DeRulo – Whatcha Say

It’s a mix that can’t fail: take one muscular guy (fresh-faced 20-year-old singer Jason DeRulo), make sure he has a voice as smooth as his dance moves, give him backing by two pop powerhouses (producer JR Rotem and songwriter/American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi), and make certain his first single is an infections pop tune kissed with an R&B twist (”Whatcha Say”).
Mission accomplished!
DeRulo’s inaugural single has already shot to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and the buzz about his debut album couldn’t be higher. To capitalize on his current success, he’s premiered the Bernard Gourley-directed video for the song on MTV.com.
In the video, a remorseful DeRulo is trying to win his lady back after participating in a little side action. His recourse is to tell her “When I become a star, we’ll be living so large.” Oh, Jason! You’re on your way to become a star, indeed, but that’s no excuse!
