Kris Allen Covers Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” In Concert
While competing on season 8 of American Idol, Kris Allen became known for his often surprising, equally risky renovations to classic pop tunes. He broke out his guitar to make Michael Jackson’s “Remember The Time” a sped-up folk ditty, and stripped Kanye West’s “Heartless” almost bare with an acoustic rendition that some would say beats the original.
Now that he’s one the show and is about to release his self-titled debut album on November 17, he’s not done with his putting his own spins on the classics.
Allen gave a special mini concert to some lucky benevolent students at Seton High School in Ohio to reward them for raising over $5000 for the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen fund. One song on his set was his “favorite song to sing in the shower.” That song? Britney Spears‘ debut hit “Baby One More Time.”
His cover for sure tramples any version we could sing in the shower, but to be fair, many don’t get to bring their guitars in.

Poor Kris. He is the weakest Idol that ever won. He was well liked by the girls but it takes talent to stay in the spotlight. I thought that Allison, Adam, Matt and Danny all had more talent. He needs Auto Tune.

Kris may have won – but as you can see from this video he doesn’t have talent. As for the remix of this Britney Spears song. Typo O Negative did this exact same remix over six years ago and they did a much better job of it than Kris Allen did.

This performance was very good, and a lot of fun for the audience to sing along.
Adam’s Time for Miracles leaked on youtube, and was much more saccharin and maudlin than Kris’ No Boundaries, but the Glamberts will elevate the cheese to high art.
Kris is so cool. I love his vibe. I also love the song Live Like We’re Dying.

Seriously I love Kris!! I got to to see him in Kansas city and even got my picture with him! He is in fact THE REAL DEAL!!! He can make anything sound great…I don’t care what anybody says as far as how Adam was supposed to be the winner. If he was supposed to be the winner..he would have won! Everything happens for a reason!! They are both talented and will both go far…but I’m still TEAM KRIS all the way!!

I love the way he does this. He’s THE cutest guy, and so great with an audience! His voice just makes me want to listen to him over and over. He does fantastic things with all the songs he performs — makes them stand out, makes them special. He is the best. GO KRIS!!!
