New Music: Alicia Keys – Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart

Alicia Keys - J Records
From the moment the thumping drum beat of Alicia Keys’s new single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” kicks in, you know it’s about to be good. How good, you don’t know. But by the end you’re sure the verdict is DAMN GOOD.
Alicia longs for an absent lover in the Prince-inspired mid-tempo track which follows-up the ballad “Doesn’t Mean Anything.” “Have you ever tried sleeping with a broken heart?/Well you can try sleeping in my bed,” she sings with a yearning you can’t help but feel. She comes in on piano just before the song ends behind a refrain of sing-a-long-ready “La La La’s.”
“Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” is taken from Alicia’s fourth album, The Element of Freedom, in stores December 15.

I can’t wait for ‘The Element of Freedom’. The first two singles in my opinion are awesome, the vocals, the production, the messages behind them. Alicia continues to inspire me and grab me emotionally as well as mentally, she makes me ponder all of the things she sings about so earnestly. It sucks the album has been pushed back a couple of weeks and that ‘Doesn’t Mean Anything’ isn’t performing so well in the US currently, but I have faith she’ll come out on top as with her previous efforts. 2009 is a great year for music and Ms. Keys’ is my most anticipated of the past two years. I love this new single.
