Video: Ke$ha And 3OH!3 Perform “Blah Blah Blah” On American Idol Results Show

Ke$ha

American Idol is known for having some of today’s best talent on its stage. Last night (March 17) during the hour-long results show, it had arguably some of the worst.

Pop singer Ke$ha dropped by to perform her latest single, Blah Blah Blah, off her debut album, Animal. She was joined onstage by duo 3OH!3 for what could only be described as a trainwreck of a performance.

Bad dancing, extremely bad singing and ultra bad head pieces (???) added to the poor performance. Obviously, Ke$ha didn’t take any notes from David Cook and Orianthi. Both singers performed before Ke$ha hit the stage.

Orianthi

Singer and guitar goddess, Orianthi, stopped by American Idol’s jam packed results show hour last night (March 17) for a live performance.

The talented Aussie import performed her popular single, According To You, while jamming on her guitar. The single currently sits at No. 18 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart, making her debut a top 20 smash!

Before Orianthi took the stage, Idol saw the return of season 7’s David Cook performing the Rolling Stones hit Jumpin’ Jack Flash.

American Idol Results: Lacey Brown Is First To Say Goodbye

Lacey Brown - FOX

If only her voice was as alluring as her piercing eyes, Lacey Brown would still be around on season 9 of American Idol.

The 24-year-old fire-haired singer was the first to be sent packing this season, after a forgettable performance of “Ruby Tuesday” during the Rolling Stones theme night, as the judges hold on to their “save” option.

Introduced last season, the save allows the judges to keep a singer in danger of elimination in the competition up until the top five. The vote to use the save has to be unanimous and it can be used only once. It was created to rescue singers with the potential to win, but somehow fell short of America’s votes that week (think Chris Daughtry’s or Jennifer Hudson’s early exits).

Before the results came down, Lacey waited for her fate with the rest of the bottom three singers, comprised of 20-year-old Tim Urban and 24-year-old Paige Miles, who fought laryngitis on performance night.

Lacey didn’t seem very shocked by her elimination. She’s already thinking ahead saying country music may be the path she takes. “I’m excited for the future,” she told Ryan Seacrest.

Standout performer Crystal Bowersox is safe, of course, but she addressed Simon Cowell saying she’s been performing like she’s got the competition in the bag during the critique of her performance of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” Tuesday night. “Don’t put words into my mouth…this is still anyone’s competition,” she said.

The 11 remaining contestants take the stage again next Tuesday.

Rihanna Lands Sixth Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 With “Rude Boy”

That Rihanna reign just won’t let up — seriously.

The pop star earns her sixth No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with her sizzling island-infused latest offering, “Rude Boy,” from her platinum fourth album, Rated R.

The accomplishment gives Rihanna the most No. 1 singles for a female artist since the start of the new millennium — she was previously tied with Beyonce. “Rude Boy” helped the Bajan sensation clock the most top 10 singles for a female artist in the 2000’s (14) when it rocketed from 23-8 on the Hot 100 two weeks ago, but with the 11-9 rise of Lady GaGa and Beyonce’s “Telephone” this week, the two re-tie for that title.

Rihanna’s meteoric rise began in 2005, but her first chart-topper was earned in 2006 with “S.O.S.” from her sophomore album, A Girl Like Me, and continued with  “Umbrella” featuring Jay-Z, “Take A Bow,” “Disturbia,” “Live Your Life” (with T.I.), and finally, “Rude Boy.”

Ludacris might be asking “how low can you go” in his chart-topping single, “How Low,” but he’s reaching new heights.

The rapper/actor clocks his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 album chart with his seventh album, Battle of the Sexes. The set, which features lyrical brawls with female rappers like Nicki Minaj, Eve, and Lil Kim, sold 137,000 copies in its debut week, according to Nielsen Soundscan. (See Neon Limelight’s review of Battle of the Sexes.)

Coming in at No. 2, the animated band Gorillaz take in 112,000 copies of their third album, Plastic Beach. The set is led by the song “Stylo,” featuring Mos Def and Bobby Womack.

Last week’s chart-topper, country trio Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now, falls to No. 3 but remains a strong seller, boosting 105,000 more copies.

Robyn’s got some news for you: fembots have feelings, too.

That’s what the Swedish pop star is singing about in a newly released song, called, what else, “Fembots,” that appeared on her official website today (March 17).

The insanely infectious electronic track (think Black Eyed Peas gone Euro) will lead a more dance-driven set of new music for Robyn, currently estimated to hit stores in June, according to a recent interview with Pitchfork, and kick off a busy year for the singer, which includes two more albums and a tour.

Neon Reviews: Ludacris – Battle Of The Sexes

Ludacris - Battle of the Sexes

Debuting at the top of this week’s Billboard Album Chart, Ludacris takes on the opposite sex on his seventh album, Battle of the Sexes.  Featuring female rappers Eve, Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim and more, Ludacris shows fans he isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with his feminine counterparts.

On the album, Luda cleverly taps into the dynamics between men and women, as he takes a stab at lyrically dissecting which is the greater of the two sexes.  From the beginning of his intro track as he proclaims, “It’s a man’s world, and all you women… I just want the rest to know,” the challenge is issued.  Thereafter, a lyrical brawl proceeds between Luda and the ladies.

In “My Chick Bad,” Ludacris goes head-to-head with Nicki Minaj–a definite match for the animated rapper, in terms of her delivery.  Lil’ Kim tries to hang with the boys and claim a round on “Hey Ho.”  Unfortunately, she is outranked.  However, the major female force to be reckoned with on the album (who, for the most part, is not explicitly acknowledged as a featured artist) is Shawnna – credited on “I Do It All Night,” “B.O.T.S. Radio,” and “Feeling So Sexy.”  While other femme fatale rap artists do maintain their ground, in comparison to Shawnna, they come off as casualties of war.  Not surprising considering she was Ludacris’ protégé, and the initial conceptualization of the album had her slated to be the sole spokesperson for the female perspective.
