Electro-pop star LIGHTS is enjoying the release of her first ever full length album, The Listening, which hit stores in the beginning of October to critical acclaim, and with the release, she’s been hard at work touring.

The 22-year-old Canadian keytar chick is close to wrapping her first headlining tour which hit cities like Baltimore (see our exclusive Live Shots gallery from the show), New York, and Salt Lake City, but she’s already thinking about her upcoming tour with fellow synth lover Owl City who is currently enjoying a No. 1 record with his hit “Fireflies.”

“It seems like it’s been a long time coming,” LIGHTS told Neon Limelight by phone Saturday (October 30) while stranded in her hotel room outside of Denver due to a snowstorm. She says the two of them have followed each other’s careers since they were still building their fanbases from the ground up on Myspace. “I knew he had something really special and now he’s just skyrocketed and I’m so happy to the point where I feel invested because I’ve been watching him from the start.”

“I couldn’t think of better person for me to tour with as far as even positivity and vibe and sound and energy,” she continued. “There’s just so many things that make sense.”

Since they mesh together so well sonically, it’s only natural to assume that maybe they’d get together and blend that positive energy in the studio. LIGHTS says she’s definitely not ruling it out. “I’d love to do something like that. I’ll play that one by ear.”

Besides looking forward to seeing Owl City perform every night on the tour (“I love his music!”), she says she can’t wait to make her sister jealous. “She emailed me and told me she recently went to his show in Vancouver, and she’s like ‘It made me cry!’ I got like a little wave of jealousy and wrote her back like ‘How come my shows don’t make you cry!?’” “This will make her jealous. She loves him, too,” she laughed.

LIGHTS’s tour with Owl City and Deas Vail kicks off January 21 in Kansas City, MO (see full tour itinerary here).
