Rihanna is finally ready to open up about the February altercation with former boyfriend and fellow pop star Chris Brown that turned both of their lives upside down.
In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, the 21-year-old pop star, who is also readying the release of a new album, Rated R, reveals for the first time what happened that night, how she handled the aftermath, and how she plans to move forward.
“He was definitely my first big love,” Rihanna says of Brown, who pleaded guilty to assault in August, and is carrying out his sentence while getting his music career back on track.
She warns that domestic violence is not something that discriminates. “This happened to me, and it can happen to anybody.”
The interview airs Thursday, November 5 on Good Morning America at 7 a.m. EST, followed by a 20/20 special Friday, November 6 at 10 p.m. EST.
