Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is making a big move from the sunny streets of Melrose Place to the windy city of Chicago.
The 25-year-old singer/actress, who recently got the boot from the CW-revived 90s drama Melrose Place, will reportedly join the cast of Chicago on Broadway.
GossipCop.com reports Ashlee will reprise her role as the sultry Roxie Hart, a role she played in London’s West End in 2006 to great reviews.
She is expected to join the cast some time in December and play for six weeks.
Chicago producers Fran and Barry Weissler are said to have wanted Simpson for the role for quite awhile after reading the reviews from her London stint.
Although Ashlee has been mum about her departure from Melrose Place — her character will be killed off as a wrap up to a murder mystery storyline — her sister, Jessica Simpson, has spoken out in her defense. “Thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press,†she tweeted after calling the show’s script “crap.”
