New Video: Leighton Meester Featuring Robin Thicke – Somebody To Love

Nowadays, if you’re an actress wanting to make the leap into the pop world, all you need is a good pop beat and the ability to whisper with rhythm. Gossip Girl bad girl Leighton Meester aka Blair Waldorf’s new single, “Somebody To Love,” is a prime example of how easy the transition can be with all the right (?) elements.

Meester doesn’t bother trying to impress with her voice — it’s unlikely she’d be able to, so why waste the energy? Instead, she coos sexily about wanting to find someone to love her and all of her hotness. To distract us from any of her shortcomings, she drafts sultry R&B crooner Robin Thicke — the song’s saving grace.

The track’s sexy video, shot in New York City, further distracts from the lackluster song with fierce fashions and serious sensuality.

There’s probably no chance of a long-term career in music (thank goodness she has a fall-back plan!), but for better or worse, she has everything it takes to get pop fans listening — or at least looking — for a song or two.
