Today, Sesame Street celebrates its 40th anniversary. We know the little kid inside of you probably can’t stop smiling and reminiscing about how Elmo taught you that it’s OK to ask questions, Big Bird showed you how to be kind, and Cookie Monster taught you how to expand your waistline.
Sesame Street was always a good tool for educating kids, and it also introduced them to lots of music. Many stars throughout its 40 years have paid a visit to the fictional street to offer their wisdom or just jam a little.
We’ve compile a video playlist of some of our favorite artists to find their way to where the air is sweet. Enjoy moments from Destiny’s Child, Chris Brown, Feist, Alicia Keys, and even an appearance by Michael Jackson. There’s also a hilarious parody of Mariah Carey’s “Some Day” by the fabulous Mariah Cowey called “Some Hay.”
Happy 40th anniversary, Sesame Street!
