Before Adam Lambert hit the 2009 American Music Awards stage and left everyone with their jaws on the ground from his saucy show, Alicia Keys with Jay-Z, the Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Lopez took the stage for tamer performances.
Alicia Keys and Jay-Z performed their number one single Empire State of Mind and Alicia returned later for a performance of her own Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart, the second single from her new album The Element of Freedom.
The Black Eyed Peas delivered a show-stopping performance of their singles Meet Me Halfway and the history making Boom Boom Pow.
Jennifer Lopez’s performance was show-stopping for different reasons. During her return to the musical spotlight performance, J-Lo took a noticeable tumble. She recovered quickly and due to lip-syncing, never missed a beat.

I dont know about that guy dancing around alicia during her performance, i wouldve liked to see if a bit more simple, no background dancers, just her with her banging body(no homo) singing her heart out like the video.

All the artist were very entertaining. I loved both Alicia’s performance with Jay-Z and by herself. She has an amazing voice.
J.Lo has the total NY attitude. The song is terrible.–I’m usually positive but it is fine for the AMA.

Alicia Keys single was outstanding, bought it itunes right away. I thought the performace was great. the breaker guy was outstanding. I saw him as a representation of her feeling him so close as a shadow in her life. that is why she could almost feel his heart beat. Just great artistry.
