Tonight (November 23) was the last night for the remaining Dancing With The Stars contestants to make a lasting impression on the judges and American as they danced during the finals.
Kelly Osbourne started things out with an Argentine Tango. After struggling in the beginning of the competition with this same dance, she received some much needed tips from judge Carrie Ann Inaba. After being coached on how to be more intimate and intense, she brought it to the stage and slayed her performance, ending up with a total 26 points for her first dance.
After tweeting about how sky high her nerves are tonight, eyes were on Mya to see if she could continue her hot streak. With some coaching from her harshest critic, judge Len Goodman, Mya set the dance floor on fire with a saucy Paso Doble. For the third time this season, she walked away with a perfect 30 points.
All three contestants came together for the demanding mega mix round. Having to perform three separate dances all at the same time, the pressure was on to stand out from the crowd. Mya and her partner Dmitry Chaplin once again showed their skill as dancers and landed the top rank. Donny Osmond and partner Kym Johnson came in second which left Kelly and Louis Van Amstel for last place. She did earn praise for her brilliant waltz.
Kelly chose a disco inspired dance for her freestyle performance. Dancing to I Will Survive, Kelly and her partner brought back the 70’s with a few tricks in between. Her performance wasn’t perfect though. She managed to fall after one spin but her terrific attitude helped ease the moment for herself and the judges. She earned 24 points bringing her total to 76 points.
Mya originally wanted to do a more daring Broadway/Vegas inspired dance but compromised and agreed to her partner Dmitry’s choreography. They took to the dance floor for a Hairspray styled dance and while the performance was upbeats and well danced, an element of excitement was missing. Although the judges were slightly disappointed, Mya still earned a solid 27 points. This did end Mya’s perfect scoring night.
The winner of DWTS will be chosen tomorrow in a live finale with a special performance by Whitney Houston.
